The development of social productivity has made industrial resources an impromant part in the development process, and the role of rare earth oxides in it can not be ignored.Among them, thorium oxide has been widely used in special ceramics, national defense industry, catalysts and other fields because of its good physical properties,so the development and production prospects of thorium oxide are very optimistic. However, the rare earth ore contains a small amount of thorium oxide. If only thorium oxide is extracted from raw ore,the output efficiency will not be low,and it will not meet the market demand. It has been found through research that rare earth tailings enriched with thorium oxide can be used for production. The Baotou tailings reservoir can provide convenience for this production method and bring economic benefits to the enterprise, but at the same time it will also have a certain impact on the environment. Therefore, the environmental and economic impact research on the thorium oxide production process of the rare tailings is very important.Based on the above background, thorium oxide produced by the rare-earth tailings method used in rare-earth enterprises was selected as the research object, and the environmental and economic impact assessment and analysis during its life cycle were selected.Firstly, the life cycle assessment method is used to construct an environmental impact assessment model.According to the steps of the life cycle assessment method, the research scope of the “cradle to gate” of thorium oxide products is determined. The TRACI method is used to calculate the various impact types to obtain the main environment of thorium oxide impact types and identify key links and substances.Secondly, analyze the cost load in the life cycle of plutonium oxide, and construct an overall benefit evaluation model. The matrix method is used to calculate the material cost in the production process, compare the proportion of each cost type in the life cycle cost, and also identify the key links and key substances in the economic load. Finally, considering the effects of environment and economy on thorium oxide at the same time, the results of environmental impact assessment are integrated into the comprehensive assessment model, and the main process with dual impacts of environment and economy is determined through correlation analysis. In this paper, the inventory data in the environmental impact assessment is allocated according to quality parameters, which can reasonably calculate the environmental impact of each unit process. And based on the boundary of the life cycle environmental impact assessment system, the research boundary of the life cycle cost of thorium oxide is determined. To avoid the impact of by-products in cost accounting, use economic value allocation method to calculate cost inventory data.In the process of interpreting the life cycle cost results of thorium oxide, the orthogonality test method was used to analyze the uncertainty of the unit price and consumption of key material costs. The results show that fluctuations in the unit price and consumption of rare earth tailings will have an extremely life cycle cost influence.Use the results of environmental impact assessment to identify the main pollutants of each type of environmental impact to calculate the environmental cost, and effectively combine the life cycle environmental impact assessment with the life cycle cost to carry out a comprehensive analysis of thorium oxide.Based on the above research results, for the stage where both environmental and economic impacts are greater, companies need to adopt appropriate product substitution, process improvement and other means to effectively control the environmental and economic impacts to achieve corporate goals.
