Research On Design Strategies For Public Spaces In New Administrative Center Districts In Hunan Province

With fast development of urban construction in China,new urban districts with the new administrative center as the core part have been developed in many regions,which aims to promote the renewal of the old city and the overalldevelopment of the whole city;however,due to inaccuracy of previous planning&positioning and excessive pursuit of land economy by city administrators,many problems exist in the public space of new urban district.Based on related theories of administrative center and urban public space,this paper studies the four new administrative center districts of different levels in different areas of Hunan Province from the following four aspects:land use type,land use composition,block scale and road size,thoroughly analyzes the current situations of such districts and explores the problems existing in the public space of new urban administrative center district from the macro level.Meantime,four categories of urban public spaces(square,park,street and waterfront landscape)in four new administrative center districts are studied to obtain their advantages and disadvantages.Through comparison analysis of urban public spaces of four new urban administrative center districts in Hunan Province from both the macro level and the micro level,the author intends to sum up the existing problems and put forward some applicable design strategies.This paper can be generally divided into four parts:Part One includes introduction and explanation of related concepts,mainly summarizing the research background,research object,research purposes and methods as well as concept definitions of administrative center area and public space.Part Two discusses and studies the New Administrative Center District of Hunan Province,New Administrative Center District of Changsha,New Administrative Center District of Changde and New Administrative Center District of Liuye Lake(in Changde)from the perspective of land use type,land use composition,block scale and road size and explores the problems existing in the public spaces of new administrative center districtsfrom the macro level.Part Three discusses and studies four categories of urban public spaces(square,park,street and waterfront landscape)in four new administrative center districts and analyzes the problems existing in the public spaces from micro level.Part Four mainly analyzes the related theories and cases with respect to the problems existing in the public spaces of new urban administrative center districts and puts forward the related design strategies.In conclusion,the core part of this paper aims to study the problems existing in the public spaces of new administrative center districts in Hunan Province with different analysis methods,summarize the related design strategies by analyzing the related theories and cases and provide the related design bases for the new districts' public spaces under construction and to be constructed in Hunan Province so as to prevent such similar problems in the public spaces.
