Research On The Urban Memory Of Historical Areas In Nanning From The Perspective Of Folk Custom

Since the reform and opening up,China has rapidly joined the globalization trend in the world.In the process of urbanization,the old town in Nanning City after partial renewable shows a mix of different architectural styles.Random removal and demolishment of streets,lanes and buildings with historical value and lack of preservation lead to disappearance of urban memory in historical areas.The traditional folk custom and social relations in the historical areas have been destroyed by the disappearance of life space supporting the existence of folk culture,the outflow of original residents,immigration of floating population and other problems.Coupled with the impact of modern lifestyle,traditional street atmosphere dissipates and the sense of collective identity has also gradually disappeared.Therefore,it is an urgent task in need of attention that we should save the urban memory and folk culture in the historical areas in Nanning city.This paper first introduces the concept of urban memory and folk culture,and proposes basic theory in connection with the research here.On this basis,it describes correlation between urban memory and urban folk custom in integrated research and the significance of this research to urban development.The paper describes the folk culture and development situation in historical areas in Nanning and displays the forms and features of folk culture in this city.Moreover,in combination with psychology,sociology and related theoretical basis of urban memory,this paper takes historical areas in Nanning as its research object,and explores and sums up the characterizations and features of folk culture.Then it carries out a survey about the memory of the public towards urban custom in these historical areas,gets the statistical results of this survey and analyzes memory level and influencing factors.It finds the following factors influencing the memory level about urban custom,including personal background,degree of participation of residents,preservation degree of neighborhoods and buildings,protection degree of functional commercial activities,memory path and propaganda intensity.In the end,this paper proposes protection principles and explores methods to make the folk custom memory in the historical areas in Nanning city reappear in the aspect of folk life.This paper hopes to provide more scientific,reasonable and organic methods for the better development of historical areas in Nanning and offer reference for the building of folk cities full of emotion memory and local features.
