Drum mixer is widely used in mining,sintering,chemical and other fields because of its advantages of simple structure,large output and so on.Drum mixer is mainly applied in first mixing to mix and dampen particulate material.With the increasing industry demand of raw material,drum mixers development is towards large-scale,and the analysis of material mixing and key components by ordinary empirical formula becomes more and more difficult.Unreasonable setting of operating parameters will not be able to sufficiently fulfill the machine's performance and consume unnecessary energy;the unreasonable drum and roller design not only increases the manufacture cost,but also increases security risks.Aiming at solving the above problems,this paper analyzed and optimized the mixing mechanism?working parameters?strength performance of drum and the fatigue life of rollers based on ? 5.1 ×26m drum mixer.(1)The composition and working principle of ? 5.1×26m drum mixer was introduced,material mixing mechanism and mixing process were studied by the discrete element method.The current mixing degree evaluation methods were introduced,and their advantages and disadvantages were analyzed respectively.Various factors of material mixing degree and mixing rate were studied by numerical simulation based on the discrete element method.(2)The models of productivity,power and material residence time were built in the drum,and verified mathematical models by taking advantage of enterprises data.The optimization of drum mixer working parameters was carried out by fuzzy optimization.(3)Drum stress and drum strength were checked by using continuous beam model.Then,the finite element models of drum and rollers were established and the simulations were carried out to verify the theoretical calculation results and get the main drum design factors.In addition,the thickness of drum was optimized.(4)In this paper,rollers' structure was optimized by the contact strength in order to obtain their minimum width and radius.Then the fatigue life of them before and after optimization were calculated and compared to evaluate the importance of contact strength and fatigue life in the roller design.
