Detecting corona discharge of insulators can judge the insulation state of insulators and find out the fault problems in time.As a new technology for corona discharge detection of insulators,Ultraviolet detection technology is still at the beginning of research.it has not been verified theoretically that Ultraviolet detection is suitable for corona discharge, and environmental factors have no specific standards for Ultraviolet detection results. Therefore,in this paper, the corona discharge of transmission line insulator is taken as the object, the simulation model is established to verify the feasibility of Ultraviolet detection technology, and the influence of environmental factors on Ultraviolet detection results is analyzed through experiments.Based on the literature review, the current research status of corona discharge detection methods for insulators is summarized.aiming at the shortcomings of current detection methods such as no cracks in insulators and poor anti-interference ability, ultraviolet imaging method is used to detect corona discharge.through analyzing the spectrum of corona discharge light radiation,it is known that corona discharge is related to ultraviolet radiation.then, the propagation principle of ultraviolet radiation and the principle of ultraviolet detection technology are described, and the ultraviolet radiation measurement method is analyzed, which provides the basis for the following research on the relationship between electric field and ultraviolet radiation field. The numerical relationship between surface electric field and ultraviolet radiation field is analyzed.based on this,a simulation model is built for XP-100 suspension insulator string of transmission line.the ANSYS electromagnetic field simulation software is used to simulate and calculate the surface electric field distribution of insulator string.then the field calculation is carried out by using their numerical relationship to obtain the ultraviolet radiation field distribution.the simulation results show that the smaller change of electric field intensity will cause the larger change of ultraviolet radiation value, that is,the expression of enhanced electric field of ultraviolet radiation field, and the specific discharge position can be found more accurately. The feasibility of applying ultraviolet detection technology to corona discharge of transmission line insulators is demonstrated theoretically, which fills the blank of theoretical simulation. The position of corona discharge intensity is also the position of ultraviolet radiation intensity, but in the actual detection environment, there are many factors affecting the detection results,it is very important to study the influence of these factors on the detection results. In this paper, the corona discharge of insulators under laboratory operation is studied by using ultraviolet imager.the photon number is selected as the characteristic quantity of ultraviolet radiation, and the influence of gain, detection distance and test voltage on the photon number is analyzed. The experimental results show that the photon number increases with the increase of gain, and decreases after reaching a certain degree.with the increase of detection distance, the photon number decreases gradually.with the increase of test voltage, the photon number of discharge increases.the experimental results are fitted into a mathematical relationship. It is very important to study the influencing factors of ultraviolet detection in order to improve the accuracy of detection results and determine the accurate discharge position.
