At present,in order to decrease the degree of irregularity of structure and relieve the torsional effect of buildings,the seismic joint is usually set when the structure of super high-rise buildings is designed in our country.And the structural style of a high-rise building without seismic joint is rarely researched.This thesis is based on a high-rise apartment building in the new region of the West Coast.Firstly,teasing out the regulations of irregular structure in the current code,summarizing the research results of predecessors,comparing the advantages and disadvantages between the scheme with seismic joint and the scheme without seismic joint of this super high-rise building,illustrating the necessity of the additional elastic-plastic analysis.Secondly,in this paper,the PKPM-SATWE software is used to calculate and analyze the holistic mechanical properties of this Z shape irregular-plane structure without seismic joint.The elastic analysis results suggested that all the parameters of this Z shape irregular-plane high-rise building without seismic joint can meet the code requirements by rational arrangement of components which resist side force.Among these parameters,the periodical ratio is 0.64 and the torsional displacement ratio is 1.20,which are all below the code's limiting value.As a result,the structure still has strong torsional stiffness,the torsional effect is small and the structure has good seismic capacity,which proved that the scheme without seismic joint is feasible.Besides,in this thesis,the PKPM-SAUSAGE software is used to conduct the elastic-plastic analysis to the scheme without seismic joint,and the calculation results suggested that under seven degree earthquake,the biggest displacement-angle between floors can meet the code's limiting value requirements.The destruction of shear wall is mainly the damage of coupling beam and the energy dissipation is significant,the damage under compression of the wall limb is not evident.As a result,the seismic bearing capacity of the structure without seismic joint can meet the code's requirements.This thesis has conducted elastic-plastic analysis under eight degree earthquake to the scheme without seismic joint to further study the seismic capacity of the structure.Under eight degree earthquake,the damage of coupling beam is aggravated,local wall limbs of the rock-bottom shear wall are seriously damaged,but the biggest displacement-angle between floors can still meet the code's limiting value requirements and achieve the seismic capacity goal of “stand under major earthquake”.In the end,this thesis summarized the structural calculation and seismic capacity of the project.The research results showed that: When the structural scheme with no seismic joint is set up,some super high-rise buildings with irregular planes can meet the regulations of the code and achieve great economy through proper construction measures.
