The aim of this research is to study on the capacity evaluation on single-track railway line.In order to realize the assumption of current capacity usage, particularly on hand capacity with respect to reacting to the additional demand in a particular of railway line under the existing infrastructure.Apart from this, the necessary precaution of wasted efforts on the train timetable development under saturated condition is also considered as one objective among others. This research applies the capacity evaluation techniques of theoretical capacity determination based on the bottleneck approach to identify the level of utilization with the subject to theoretical measure as a term of throughput.Meanwhile, these proposed techniques significantly require a set of proportional and directional distribution for each particular types of train that potentially traverses in a given route with varying velocities to be the representative value instead of number of train types as the input.Furthermore, this research also requisites realistically significant parameters, following by,train velocities, running time or travelling time, blocking and signaling system, and dwell times in a particular of each particular types of train as well as existing infrastructure, such as crossing loops, for the objective of genetic optimization model with respect to maximize throughput. The case study of this research particularly considers the Southern railway line belonged to Thai Railways as the main area of study.Regarding the limitation of this research,it is however unable to indicate the efficiency level in a particular of track infrastructure under a given train timetable or schedule at each instant of time, together with placing additional trains into the train timetable or schedule as the occurrence of free capacity exists.
