Due to the intensification of the greenhouse effect, governments have developed carbon policies to achieve the reduction of carbon emissions.Compared with traditional manufacturing of new products, remanufacturing has significant economic and environmental benefits, and can well adapt to the needs of developing low-carbon economy in modern society. However,in the actual process, the quality of each core is uncertain because of different service life and damaged condition, which leads to the different remanufacturing cost, processing time and carbon emissions in the remanufacturing process. Therefore, under different carbon policies, how to obtain the optimal acquisition and production problem decisions for remanufacturing considering the effect of quality uncertainty on carbon emissions is an urgent problem. To solve the above problems, under the carbon tax policy and carbon trade policy, taking the acquisition and production of used products for research object, this pa per establishes the decision model for the acquisition and production problem for remanufacturing considering quality uncertainty under the carbon tax policy and carbon trade policy respectively, and specific contents are as follows:(1)The remanufacturing process and the quality uncertainty of the used products are systematically analyzed, and the remanufacturing time is used as a measure of the quality uncertainty of the used products. Moreover, the function relationship between the remanufacturing time and the remanufacturing cost and the function relationship between the remanufacturing time and the carbon emissions generated during remanufacturing are established.(2)Under the carbon tax policy and the carbon trade policy, the acquisition and production decision models for remanufacturing are established considering var ied carbon emissions, which are compared with the traditional acquisition and production decision model considering fixed emissions. In addition, the differences of remanufacturers' acquisition and production decisions under the two models are explored, and the numerical simulation and parameter sensitivity analysis of the model are carried out.The results show that, the decision model considering varied carbon emissions can bring more profits for the remanufacturer and produce less carbon emissions. For the change of parameters of carbon emissions, the decision model considering varied carbon emissions has better adaptability.Furthermore,it is noted that under the carbon tax policy, with the increase of carbon tax price, the carbon emissions of remanufacturing system are reduced, and the profits are also reduced. However, under the carbon trade policy, the profit gained by the remanufacturer first decreases and then increases with the increase of carbon trading price on the carbon market when the carbon emissions quota of the remanufacturer is lower. When the carbon emissions quota of the remanufacturer is higher, the profit gained by the remanufacturer gradually increases as carbon trading price increases.(3)According to the models under the carbon tax policy and the carbon trading policy and the results of numerical analysis, suggestions for remanufacturers and policy-makers are given as follows: when the remanufacturer determines the acquisition and production decisions,it would be better to consider ing the effect of quality uncertainty on carbon emissions, which can improve the economic and environmental benefits at the same time, and has better adaptability to the change of external environment;the carbon tax policy and the carbon trading policy ca n both effectively promote the remanufacturers to reduce carbon emissions, but the cost burden for remanufacturing is an important factor hindering the realization of carbon emissions reduction, and the policy-makers should set up reasonable intensity of policy as well as give technical support or capital investment.
