With the continuous transformation of industrial distribution,today's world is in an era of intense competition in terms of science and technology.The key to identify whether a country or region has strong competitiveness is its technology innovation ability.The alternation of patents is the subjective performance of technology innovation which can embody the trend and pulse of technology development.On the other hand,realistic issues such as the diminishing non-renewable resource and worse environmental pollution caused by the rapid development of human society have seriously hampered the social transformation.However,new energy vehicles(NEV)such as electric vehicles(EV)have been the research focus around the world because of its advantages like energy saving and environmental protection.The capability of EV's wheel hub drive(WHD)mainly decides its performance,so it has great meaning in theory to analyze the patent information of EV's WHD technology.Based on this,this paper firstly extracts relevant technical information from patents of EV's WHD,then analyzes the patent's data in order to formulate corresponding strategies for this field in the process of technology development,in the hope of assisting related entities to grasp the dominance on technology development and then promote the healthy development of China's NEV industry according to the current situation.This article takes the patent of EV's WHD as data source,in the process of patent analysis,considering the existence of the patent technology is similar to the existence of biology in the natural world,the niche theory will be adopted and implemented for analyzing patent technology as well as the social network analysis(SNA)method.Furthermore,this paper conducts in-depth research on the patent technology of EV's WHD,summarizes the problems in the development of it and then proposescorresponding countermeasures.The paper includes the following parts:The first part reviews relevant research and introduces basic theories.On the basis of reading and learning related literature,taking the patent analysis as the starting point,the niche theory and SNA methods are introduced into the patent technology analysis,and corresponding theoretical foundations and research status are sorted and summarized accordingly.The niche calculation method in the niche theory can measure and evaluate the patent technology from multiple levels and describe the competitive technological situation in the industry abundantly and comprehensively.In addition,SNA itself could reveal practical characters of complex co-word network relationships in a visual form and then apply it to patent analysis which can investigate hot topics more directly from current development process of EV's WHD technology,and the degree of entire association of various technologies within this field.The third part conducts a thematic analysis on the patent technology of EV's WHD.The SNA method will be introduced into the analysis,Through the introduction of related IPC classification number into the UCINET for co-occurrence analysis of the patent data on EV's WHD,to explore mainstream research directions of WHD technology and investigate research hot topics,to clarify the degree of association of various subdivided technologies in this field and identify technologies of further potential emerging research focus.The fourth part analyzes the problems existing in the development process of domestic EV's WHD technology combined domestic situation and actual conditions of its own industry development,aiming to propose countermeasures and suggestions for the further optimization of EV's WHD technology in China.
