With the improvement of people’s living standards and the continuous development of tourism,an upsurge of "red tourism" gradually emerged throughout the country.Red tourism becomes more and more popular.Xibaipo is one of the most famous tourist attractions,since“New China set off from here”,and it was selected in China Red Tourism classic scenic directory in January 2017.In “The 13 th Five-Year Plan for Tourism Development in Hebei Province",the government plan to support 12 representative tourist resorts which are great influential,strong effective and more comprehensive,the first one is Xibaipo Educational Experience Zone of Red Tourism.Going with “4th plenary session of 18 th CPC Central Committee” and “19th CPC National Congress”,Xibaipo is widespread concerned by people,the number of tourists has went up multiply,economic benefits rises year by year.However,comparing with its development in tourism,the study and development of tourist souvenirs are not enough.There are many problems,such as single assortment,lack of features,poor quality,inaccurate product positioning etc.These problems have been the obstacle that restricts economic development of Xibaipo.In this paper,the author,firstly,traces the history of Xibaipo red culture,analyzes and organizes the Xibopo red culture symbols systematically.Secondly,the author,by using basic principles of design semiotics,explains the function of tourism souvenir to culture,and the relationship between culture,symbols and souvenirs,at the same time,probes the way turning symbols into products.Finally,the author tests and verifies conversion methods,including selection of typical red culture symbols,product position,induction and deformation of the form,establishment of functions and consideration of material factors.To features of tourist souvenirs,the selection of regional culture symbols is most essential,the author,combining with the analysis of modern context and the application of aesthetic principles,discusses the way how to transform the connotation of Xibaipo red culture symbols into a product’s shape to achieve organic unity between practical function and aesthetic function,making tourist souvenirs become the unique “three-dimensional calling card” of red holy land.
