The frequency quality of the power system is an important index of the power grid quality.It is necessary to pay attention to the problem of frequency regulation.As more and more intermittent energy sources are integrated into the grid network,it brings new problems to the power grid.Energy storage technology provides a new available means to alleviate the pressure.Flywheel Energy Storage System(FESS)is very suitable for frequency control applications because of its fast response,clean and efficient characteristics.This paper presents a scheme of frequency regulation based on FESS for frequency regulation of power grid,and studies its technical feasibility.Also it discusses the capacity optimization allocation,and carries out economic calculation.Firstly,this paper analyzes the limitations of traditional frequency regulation,and points out the problem of slow speed and insufficient capcity.To solve this problem,this paper presents a united frequency regulation using FESS and conventional generator set,and studies its working principle.Secondly,this paper studies the mathematical model of the traditional frequency modulation and FESS.Also introduces their operation principles and technical characteristics.This paper formulates a responsibility allocation scheme for frequency regulation based on load cycle.The MATLAB/Simulink software is used to build the simulation model of two regional power system frequency regulation based on FESS,and the effectiveness of the scheme is verified.In addition,this paper studies the problem of capacity optimization of FESS based on demand analysis.And it proposes a comprehensive optimization goal and analyzes the constraint conditions of the target function.Thus the capacity optimization model of FESS is established.Finally,this paper analyzes the cost and profit of the FESS.The economic feasibility of the scheme is proved.
