With Chinese development of industrial economy,the production and use of steel structure has been growing at a higher speed in recent years.Because steel structure in the construction engineering market becomes more and more important and the type of building is more and more complex,there is a higher requirement for the design and construction of the steel structure.However,there are still many problems and shortcomings in the design and application of steel structure in China.The most obvious one is that the relevant technical standards lag behind the developed countries such as Europe and the United States.There is a clear gap between the processing technology with those of foreign countries.Referring to the code,German Code for Design of Steel Structure stipulate bolt edge distance of steel angle and steel channel for less than or equal to 8t?t is the thickness of steel angle and steel channel?.But the Chinese Code for Design of Steel Structures has not stipulated the bolt edge distance of the rigid member and give the recommended value only in the Design Handbook of Steel Structure.Less research on tensile tear failure of steel angle or steel channel connections at present and there is no definite regulation on the calculation method of the bearing capacity of the bolt connection of the steel channel.To analysis the effect of bolt edge distance on steel angle or steel channel connection performance,two groups of steel angle specimens and two groups of steel channel specimens are designed and relating finite element models of ABAQUS are established.Steel angle models of 73 and steel channel models of 39are established for parameter analysis and the main content can be listed as follows:1.For groups of specimens were tested to obtain their failure modes,load-displacement curves and ultimate bearing capacities.In the steel angle specimen,the rake ratio of the load displacement curve decreases obviously with the increase of the bolt edge distance.There are two types of failure modes.For the steel channel specimen,three of the same steel channel in each group showed similar performance,which verified the accuracy of the test values.2.Finite element models of ABAQUS were established and calculation results were compared with the experimental results.The failure modes,load-displacement curves and ultimate bearing capacities of the finite element analysis were in good agreement with those of the experimental results,so the finite element model established could accurately simulate the steel angle and steel channel connections.3.Modification of finite element models loading and the stress development path and failure mode of the steel angle or steel channel connections are determined in this paper.finite element models of 112 are established with different number of bolts,end distance,spacing,and the model of the specimen to analysis the effect of bolt edge distance on steel angle steel channel connection performance.4.Formula for designing the bearing capacity of steel channel connections is proposed.It is suggested that the end distance of the bolt takes as 2d0 when the bearing capacity is calculated.5.Programming with Python language to simplify the modeling process and get the value of the corresponding bolt edge distance by finite element analysis on all type steel angles and steel channels connection specimen is finished.Through the analysis of the maximum bolt edge distance,we can get the maximum bolt edge distance of each type of hot-rolled steel angle less than 8t?t is the thickness of steel angle?,and the maximum bolt edge distance of each type of hot-rolled commom steel channel less than 8t?t is the thickness of steel channel?,and the maximum bolt edge distance of each type of hot-rolled light steel channel less than10t?t is the thickness of steel channel?.
