Nutation drive with face-gears proposed herein,which has synthesized face gear drive and nutation gear drive.The internal face-gear and the external one may constitute "surface-surface" gear pair under the conjugate meshing of them,Combining the nutation principle,a new type of space transmission is proposed based on the "surface-surface" gear pair,which has many advantages such as compact structure,large contact ratio,small size,less parts,high transmission ratio,superior carrying capacity and so on and has good applicability in the high power area such as helicopter and shield machine.Nutation drive with face-gears is studied,the achievement of this paper as follows:1.Acoording to the basic principle of nutation,the basic structure of nutation drive with face-gears is proposed.The calculation formula of transmission ratio of nutation drive with face-gears is derived by the way of the angle difference and transforming mechamism.Nutation drive with face-gears is analyzed on kinematics by the kinematics equation of rigid body.2.Based on the engagement principle of gears,the concept of the "surface-surface" gear pair is introduced.The tooth surface equation and meshing equation of internal face-gear of"surface-surface" gear pair is derived based on spatial meshing theory.The boundary dimension of two face-gears is determined on the basis of the boundary condition of internal face-gear and the conjugate meshing condition of external face-gear and internal face-gear,then the establishment of 3D model of nutation drive pairs with face-gears using PRO/E software is introduced.The calculation formula of pressure angle of two sides of planetary face-gear are deduced when the planetary face-gear engages with fixed face-gear and rotating face-gear,and the changing regularity of pressure angle of teeth surface are obtained.An analysis of the influence of the installation error to the contact race of tooth surface is presented on the basis of the condition of continual touching.3.The establishment of force model of face-gears of nutation drive with face-gears is presented.Acoording to the Hertzian elastic contact theory,combining the meshing characteristics of the nutation drive with face-gear,the contact strength of face-gears in the"surface-surface" gear pair is analyzed.Through the finite element analysis with ABAQUS,an analysis of the contact stress is presented when the fixed face-gear and rotating face-gear meshed with the planetary face-gear,so the validity of the force model is verified,and the distribution of the contact stress are obtained,corresponding improving measures are put forward.4.The dynamic load simulation is executed by ADAMS software,then the change rule of dynamic load of the new type of nutation drive pairs with face-gear are analyzed.The results provide referential basis for the optimization design and dynamics analysis of the transmission device.
