Plate heat exchanger(PHE)is a compact heat exchanger.Due to its high heat transfer efficiency and large specific surface area,it has a wide range of applications in industrial production.The flow in the flow channels of the plate heat exchanger is complicated,traditional experimental research methods have a poor effect.Computational fluid dynamics is very suitable for the research and optimization of plate heat exchangers.Scholars have studied the industry application of plate heat exchangers.There are few effective researches on the flow characteristics of flow channels.At the same time,studies on the effects of flow pattern on heat transfer and enhanced heat transfer are insufficient.This article uses Fluent software to reveal the mechanism of the flow characteristics of the plate heat exchanger on heat transfer.The main work and conclusions are as follows:(1)A flow calculation model for plate heat exchangers that meets the requirements of large eddy simulations has been established.In order to reduce the computational cost as much as possible while guaranteeing the accuracy of the calculation,this article has carried on the high-resolution grid generation to the flow channel model with fewer repetition units,and adopted the periodic boundary condition on the left and right walls of the model.(2)Study on the flow characteristics of the turbulent boundary layer in the plate heat exchanger.A time variable was introduced to analyze the flow pattern,velocity,and turbulent kinetic energy distribution at the turbulent boundary layer in the flow channel at different times.And found that there is periodicity in the flow within the plate heat exchanger flow channel.(3)The effect of flow characteristics on heat transfer in plate heat exchangers.The dragging action of the upper and lower flow channels between the plates causes the flowing medium to rotate forward in the flow channel,and the heat transfer is better.The heat transfer in the leakage area is better,but the flow is more chaotic,and a dead flow area is created nearby due to its influence.The dead zone has a poor heat transfer and a large resistance loss.
