With the increasing mileage of highway in China, the number of highway tunnel in mountainous area is increasing. The construction of highway tunnel brings huge traffic convenience and economic benefits. However, because of the huge difference between the internal and external environment of the highway tunnel,it also brings many hidden dangers to the traffic and operation safety. The probability of the accident is far higher than that of the ordinary section, and the consequences are badly disastrous. In order to reduce accidents and analyze the physiological and psychological effects of tunnel sections on drivers, the quantitative analysis of ECG data in the operation of different length tunnels is selected to explore the basic theory of improving the traffic safety of the tunnel section. In this paper,10 driver samples(5 professional drivers and 5 non professional drivers)were selected to carry out a real car test to collect the ECG data in the driving course of different lengths of the highway and analyze the test data.In order to ensure the accuracy of heart rate variability which is used to evaluate the physiological and psychological load of the driver in the tunnel section, the wavelet analysis is used to filter the ECG signal, and the smooth ECG signals are obtained.By cluster analysis and principal component analysis,12 kinds of combination of HRV time domain and frequency domain are determined, and the variation is combined with the variation. The coefficient of time domain and frequency domain of driver's HRV changes is MRR,SDNN and LF,and the changes of physiological and psychological load of drivers of different length tunnel sections are obtained by analyzing three indexes in short tunnel, middle long tunnel and long tunnel. The results show that the highway tunnel driving will cause a certain load on the physiological psychology of the driver, and the load on the non professional driver is larger. In the middle long tunnel, the non professional driver is not familiar to the tunnel environment because of the inexperienced driving experience, and the dark adaptation time is long, the black hole effect has a greater impact on the non professional driver. In a long tunnel, the changes in the psychological load of professional drivers and non professional drivers areconsistent, and the effect of black hole effect on non professional drivers is not significant;all drivers' performance is greater than that of the export segment,it indicates that the influence of dark adaptation to the driver is large and bright adaptation is small. The above results can provide theoretical basis for improving tunnel safety operation and the safety education for drivers.
