As the forerunner and basic industry to the development of the national economy,the road transport industry plays a decisive role in promoting social development and economic construction.Based on the theory of highway transportation economics,statistics,econometric and other related theories,this article takes the road transportation system in 31 regions in China as the research object,and the efficiency of regional highway transportation system is researched in it.Firstly,based on the theories related,taking input and output as a research perspective,this paper uses the super-efficient SBM model to measure the efficiency of road transportation in each region from 2006 to 2016.The measurement results are summarized as follows:(1)The analysis results on the characteristics of pure technology efficiency and scale efficiency show pure technical efficiency of regional road transport has greater impact than scale efficiency for comprehensive efficiency,and pure technical efficiency determines the distribution pattern of comprehensive efficiency to a certain extent;(2)By comparing the national,eastern,central and western regions of comprehensive efficiency measurement on road transport,it is seen that the areas where transport efficiency is located at the production frontier are concentrated in the eastern region,while the regions with lower transport efficiency are concentrated in the western region;(3)The trend of mean values of comprehensive transport efficiency in national and eastern,central and western regions from 2006 to 2016 presents U-type distribution,decreasing first and then increasing,with the lowest efficiency appearing around 2008,which shows that the efficiency of road transport is vulnerable to regional economic fluctuations;(4)The order of the coefficients of variation in national and eastern,central and western regions from 2006 to 2016 lines in east,central,nationwide and west,and its change trend is inverted U-type,which all preliminary show that there are spatial heterogeneity and spatial homogeneity in the transport efficiency of regional road in China.Secondly,in order to study whether regional road transport efficiency is spatially related further,the ArcGIS software is used to describe the map visually,and its spatial-temporal evolution path from the qualitative perspective is explored;The ESDA spatial exploratory analysis method is applied to conduct spatial auto-correlation test on regional road transport efficiency from the quantitative perspective,the result of which shows there are significant spatial correlations and agglomerations between regional road transportation efficiency in China.Therefore,it is very necessary to analyze the impacton spatial factor.Finally,the influencing factors of regional road transportation efficiency are extracted from the external environments and internal conditions,and regression analysis is conducted based on spatial econometric model of SLM-double fixed effect.The results show that: As to the factors of external macro environment,there is significant positive correlation between GDP per capital,industrialization level and regional road transportation efficiency,the population size also has a positive correlation with road transportation efficiency but is not significant;As to the factors of external micro environment,there is a negative correlation between the railway mileage and regional road transportation efficiency,and not significant;As to the factors of internal conditions,there is a significant negative correlation between road network density and regional road transportation efficiency,and a significant positive correlation appears in the development level of road transport and regional road transportation efficiency.Further,some policy suggestions are made based on the analysis results above.
