At present,under the environment of Asia,Europe and Africa's railway interchange along the Belt and Road,as well as the strategy of "North coal South transportation",the railway traffic volume and logistics of coal,mineral powder and other low-density silty bulk materials will be increasing dramatically.However,during transportation,it faces some new problems.Without compaction,it is more easier to be floated and spilled,which not only causes the loss of resources but also the environmental pollution.Meanwhile,the bulk material scattered on the tracks is easy to form compaction,causing some problems to the safety of railway transportation.In addition,compacting and flattening the low-density silty bulk materials helps increase the capacity of the train and reduce the transportation costs.Therefore,it has a very important significance to compact and flatten the train carrying bulk cargo.Based on the above object,this paper aims to the current situation and development trend of compaction method and compaction technology,and proposes two kinds of compaction methods to the low-density silty bulk: flat plate compaction and roller compaction.We analyze the compaction mechanism and use the EDEM simulation to study the main factors affecting its compaction effect,and receive its influence law.The main job of this paper is as following:(1)Consult the literature about compaction method and compaction technology of the bulk,and explain the current research of bulk compaction method and compaction technology,and determine the route and main content of the low density silty bulk compaction methods.(2)Based on the theory of discrete element method,we introduce force chain,and establish the theoretical model of compression deformation in buck mesoparticles system,and analyze the microscopic compaction mechanism;We use Coulomb theory,Rankine earth pressure theory,the soil mechanics theory to analyze the macro compaction mechanism,and to provide a theoretical basis for the simulation of the paper.(3)Establish flat plate compactor models,and analyze the compacted displacement,compacted rate compacted dwell time,the platen area,the accumulation status of bulk materials,the stack height of bulk materials and some other factors affecting compaction effect by EDEM simulation and results,obtaining the influence of various factors on the flat plate compaction effect.(4)Establish roller compaction model,and respectively analyze the radius of the roller,the rolling depth of the roller,the speed of the roller,the surface roughness of the roller,the accumulation status of bulk materials,the stack height of bulk materials and other factors affect compaction effect by EDEM simulation and results,obtaining the influence of various factors on the effect of roller compaction.In addition,compare the compacted effects between the flat platen and roller and summarize them.The paper is based on the research of compaction mechanism with the low-density silty bulk materials.Through the EDEM comparative simulation experiments,we study different parameters and associated factors on compaction,and a better compaction effect is obtained.It provides guidance for the application of the low-density silty bulk materials compaction method in railway carriage.
