As a continuous conveyer,the vertical screw conveyor,is widely used in granular conveying field with its unique advantages,such as green,environmental protection,and it is also the core issue of research in this field.In this paper,the vertical screw conveyor is the object.Application of granular mechanics theory and discrete element method,and using EDEM software simulate the movement of particles in the process of the vertical screw conveyor.And for the transport of small granules,the paper scales particle size using coarse graining techniques,by similarity theory and dimensional analysis.overcome the disadvantages that the computer can't be effectively modelled because of too many grains.The main work and achievements are as follows:(1)Establish the granular mechanics model of vertical screw conveyor,and apply discrete mechanics and continuum mechanics to analysis material motion and screw conveyor features,to provide theoretical support for main parameters of the screw conveyor and obtain the equation of material motion.(2)With application of coarse graining techniques,research real industrial problems about the vertical screw conveying feeds particles of medium and large scale,and analyze the relationship between the physical model and the scaling model by similar principles,to establish similar conditions,providing theoretical basis for scaling method.The scaling factor between the two model parameters is determined by dimensional analysis,providing accurate quantitative relation for further experiment and EDEM simulation.(3)With application of the theory of the discrete element method,analyze the vertical screw conveying process through EDEM software.The simulation is divided into two stages: virtual parameters calibration and simulation of vertical screw conveyor.After scaled,the contact parameters between particles and particles as well as the particle and wall need to be calibrated.Simulate the process of the vertical screw conveyor with the contact parameters calibrated,to discuss effect of the movement of particles and the features of screw conveyor.And analyze qualitatively the spiral blade wear in the stable transmission stage.(4)Built a set of experimental device of the vertical screw conveyor,and then determine the test parameters of the experiment device and experiment scheme.In the same conditions as the simulation,study the main factors influencing the vertical screw conveyor performance,and analyze the experimental results and simulation results,to verify the accuracy that the similarity theory and dimensional analysis is applied to the vertical screw conveyor.This paper has carried on EDEM simulation on the vertical screw conveyor and experimental research,and similarity theory and dimensional analysis is applied to solve real industrial problems of large scale number of particles.And get the accuracy of its application in the process of the vertical screw conveyor,which is a good physical meaning to solve the practical problems in industry.
