The Research Of Kitchen Layout Based On Family Interaction

With rapid development of our society,fast-pace lifestyle seems to promote arduous work spirit and lead us to neglect the importance of communication with family members.Kitchen,as an essential part of modern family with frequent usage,should not only contain utensils but also consider the relationship between the space,people,environment and things.Kitchen as the frequently using space of the family,it need contain many kitchen utensils,in the same time,the design of kitchen need to consider the rational using of space among people,environment and things.The design of modern kitchen should not only represent as an addition of kitchen utensils,hearth and sink,it should also aim to integrate the whole kitchen as a product.This design should allocate the functions wisely and thus establish an interactive layout of integrated kitchen.In present-society,the layout of kitchen only satisfy the basic function of kitchen:cooking.It does not introduce the idea of interactive kitchen to the design process.The writer aims to apply the concept of interactive-kitchen to the design of kitchen layout for the purpose of proving a new experience for modern family.This article will analyze the kitchen and the utensils of typical Chinese family: “the nuclear family” based on traditional Chinese cuisine operation procedures and the concept of interactive kitchen.The writer will show the change of demand for modern kitchen from humanity perspective and psychological perspective,reanalyze the function of kitchen within family with the reference to previous examples of design.The writer found the drawbacks of previous of design,in the realm of ideology,and suggests the concept of family interactive kitchen.Meanwhile,the writer will provide new ways of designing kitchen functions.As for methodology,the writer distributed surveys to nuclear families.The survey contains questions about the personal need,usage,and preference of kitchen function with the background of traditional cuisine operation procedure.The author selected two typical clients to investigate and analyze the actual need of kitchen utensils and modify the layout based on clients' preference.This research will consider the aspects of function allocation,function design,color arrangement and layout.Last,this paper will use utensil as a typical example to illustrate the product position,product design,design elements and so on.it also provide two layout proposals of family interactive utensils based on UCD theory and mechanical of human engineering and provide deep analyses of these two proposal in order to prove the validity and innovation.This paper will focus on creativity by providing the new concept of “family interactive kitchen”.this new concept will provide new ways of designing layout,use typical clients as examples,apply design principles and theories and fill the gap of related industry.
