When an explosion occurred, especially in a densely populated urban area, the blast caused a loss of life and property. The impact of the shockwave on human life is mainly from two aspects: one is the direct impact of the shockwave on the residents and the casualties of the people;on the other hand, the debris caused by the blast wave has destroyed the windows and doors in the building and the resulting debris has caused casualties to the residents. The study of the field data of previous explosion accidents shows that after the explosion, the shockwave not only caused serious damage to the window glass in the building, but more importantly it caused the high speed splash of the glass debris, which is a very important reason for the casualties of the residents inside and outside the building. Therefore, domestic and overseas scholars have conducted studies to improve the blast-resistant performance of building glass by using different glass materials and techniques. The main research contents of this paper are as follows:1)The laminated glass model was established based on the explicit dynamic software LS-DYNA.The model considering the strain rate effect of the glass, damage accumulation, and the reasonable failure criteria. The simulation results are compared with the displacement-time history and glass failure mode of the laminated glass in the results of Kranzer experiment, and the correctness of the model is verified.2)The comparison between different layers of glass material, different thickness, different size, and the difference of the blast-resistant performance of the laminated glass are analyzed. It can be found that the increase of the glass thickness can obviously improve the blast-resistant performance of laminated glass. With the increase of PVB thickness, the center displacement of the laminated glass is only slightly reduced,so the increase of PVB thickness can slightly increase the blast-resistant performance of the laminated glass. The center displacement is similar between the simply supported boundary and fixed boundary of laminated glass, but the bending failure of the laminated glass in the simply supported boundary is larger and the damage is greater.3)The explosion scenarios in several typical urban environments are established to analyze the propagation of the blast wave and the blast loading on the glass. The dynamic response of the laminated glass and float glass under explosion in the urban environment are analyzed, and the damage behavior of laminated glass and float glass are assessed.
