In the process of logistics,the cushioning packaging is an effective protection measure for the goods.A commonly used honeycomb paperboard was studied in this paper.Previous studies show that when the pressure or drop impact load applies on this material,the nominal stress-strain curve will appear in a long stress platform area.In this area,the deformation is stable and large quantities of energy is absorbed,which show excellent cushioning property.Since honeycomb cardboard is a good cushion material,it is of great significance to study the cushioning performance under different structures and different working conditions.The honeycomb cardboard with and without envelop were applied in this paper.Quasi-static compression and dynamic impact performance of honeycomb cardboard were studied in experimental and finite element analysis(FEA),and deformation morphology,nominal stress-strain curve and energy absorption curve under different conditions.First in this paper,the raw materials of honeycomb paperboard were cut into stripes and the physical performance and material model were obtained.Secondly,quasi-static compression test and the drop hammer impact test were carried out by the universal material testing machine and the drop hammer impact system.In this procedure,honeycomb paperboard samples with and without skin were tested,and the effect of strain rate was reflected by different dropping height.Thirdly,finite element analysis of those tests were carried by using ANSYS LS-DYNA module.The dynamic deformation process,contact force and displacement curve of honeycomb paperboard were exported.Based on the results,the nominal stress-strain curves and energy absorption curves of the experiment and FEA were obtained.Results show that for the bearing performance and cushioning performance of honeycomb paperboard,with skin is better than the without skin.The effect of skin on honeycomb board is related to honeycomb thickness,and the effect is less when the thickness is less.The influence of the skin on the honeycomb cardboard is related to the strain rate of the crushing deformation,though different strain rate ranges have different influence rules.When the strain rate is higher,the greater the strain rate is,the greater the influence will be.The main reason for the above rule is that skin change the buckling form and the law of air escape.
