With the continuous development of the port,the role of port lifting and transportation machinery is increasingly important.The need of lower carbon emission,energy saving and environmental protection puts emphasis on the lightweight design of the port crane.This paper focuses on the portal crane's gantry mounting structure as the research object,and realized the lightweight design of gantry mounting structure by a two-step optimization design.On the basis of the derived formula and calculations analyses of the SIMP(Solid Isotropic Microstructure with Penalization)interpolation model and OC(Optimization Criteria)algorithm,this paper provides overall optimization scheme,topology optimization scheme and APDL(ANSYS Parametric Design Language)optimization scheme of the gantry mounting structure.Using the optimization scheme proposed above,the structural static force analysis and calculations are performed first to validate the necessity and feasibility of the optimization.The topology optimization of the gantry mounting structure is considered under the three kinds of working conditions.A three-dimensional model of the gantry mounting structure in SolidWorks is created and geometry cleanup and meshing of the model is performed in HyperMesh.The optimization space,responses and related topology optimization parameters according to the actual load and relevant boundary conditions of gantry mounting structure are established.Finally topology optimization is performed in Optistruct software after converting the responses to constraint conditions and optimization objectives.A conservative design is chosen to obtained topology configuration according to certain principles after optimization.A new kind of gantry mounting structure is developed.The weight of the new structure is reduced by 5.02% as compared to the original structure.The final step is to carrying out APDL optimization and size optimization for the new structure.Determining the design variables,state variables and objective function of optimization after established parametric model of the new structure and finished the APDL program of the optimization analysis.Then optimize the new structure which was designed conservatively in the third working condition.After the roundness and calculation of the obtained data,the outcome shows that the weight was reduced by 4.9% after the second optimization comparing to the unoptimized new structure.The total weight was reduced by 9.67% after the two-step optimization comparing to the original structure,which achieve the goal of lightweight design of gantry mounting Structure.This paper combined two methods of optimization in two simulation environment,which makes full use of the advantages of the two methods and put forward a new idea and solution for the lightweight design of other structures of portal crane and other kinds of port cranes.
