Gantry hoisting machinery is important tool in the process of modern production logistics, its metal structure parts accounted for 40% of the weight-more than 70% of the weight, the structure is the core of the gantry crane structure design calculation, the current domestic enterprise mainly by classical mechanics formula for structural computation. The complex formula, process takes a long time, at the same time, the calculation results are easily influenced by design personnel’s subjective factors, caused part of the product structure of the safety margin to spend and the waste of materials, product production cost increase. Also some product strength, stiffness do not meet the design requirements, metal structure deformation is too large, appear even girder rupture collapsed, the whole machine and other serious consequences.With the deepening of the application of finite element technology and software, finite element technology for calculation, check and optimize structure be lifting industry development trend, however, many designers did not grasp the corresponding finite element software knowledge and operation method, combined with the existing finite element software mostly for English operation interface, increase the degree of difficulty of learning to use the software.Based on the structure of gantry crane using VB and APDL, developed a finite element analysis system for gantry crane metal structure. The main work is as follows:(1) Using the VB application UI is designed and developed, analysis by using this interface, type selection, parameter input, load calculation. ANSYS program calls, instruction generation, etc.(2) According to different structure types of gantry crane parametric analysis (APDL) program. Parametric modeling, grid control by using the program, and under various operating conditions, boundary conditions are defined and divided into load imposed on calculation, selection and complete the calculation, the results read and save the generated, images, animation, etc.(3) For the convenience of the use of designers, design the finite element analysis and calculation of standard format specification, including load calculation shows that, the working condition of, cloud computing results and calculation results, etc.(4)To carry on the detailed introduction of the system and, to a MG12.5t-40m double girder gantry crane and standard gantry crane MG100t-26m as an example, the structure of checking and standardized design.This system need to design personnel input parameters and other work, by the system itself, reducing the finite element software using threshold, reduce the workload of design personnel, the system can extract results at the same time, cooperate with computing clouds, provide designers with intuitive, vivid, accurate reference. System enhanced the accuracy of calculation results and reliability. The program after a period of trial, has obtained the very good evaluation, for the design of the gantry crane offers a practical calculation tools.
