In recent years,with the sustained growth of motor vehicle ownership in China,the risk of traffic accidents is also increasing.According to related statistics show that passenger cars in the collision,side impact is the second largest after the accident form of a frontal collision,the collision energy is large,resulting in greater damage to the passenger.To improve the crash safety of automobiles and reduce occupant injury in the event of a collision,the China Automotive Research Center released the 2018 version of the C-NCAP program this year,the test requirements and the evaluation indexes of the side impact project have changed greatly.Therefore,based on the new version of C-NCAP standard,the safety of the side of the passenger car collision research will be necessary.Based on the requirements of C-NCAP and the finite element theory,this paper builds a side impact simulation model of a SUV model,and analyzes the variation law of the crashworthiness of the vehicle side structure under the new side impact evaluation standard.Then propose improvements to optimize and improve the target vehicle side crash safety,to help company get 5 star rating of the car in the version of the 2018 C-NCAP.The main contents of this paper include:(1)The finite element software was used to establish the finite element model of the side impact under the current C-NCAP standard and the new C-NCAP standard,master the key technical issues involved in the modeling process,such as vehicle model is more complex,it requires the use of modular construction molding methods.Comparing the simulation results of two versions of side impact model,and analyzes the influence of the new version of the barrier on the side crashworthiness of the model.(2)Analyzing the deformation situation and deformation patterns of the mode at the new barrier collision,summarizes the factors and laws that affect the deformation of the side structures,and propose effective structural improvement program.The improved model is calculated and compared with the results of the improved model.The improved intrusion rate of the B-pillar structure is reduced by 24.4% and the invasion rate is reduced by 13.6%,which indicates that the lateral structure of the modified target vehicle Crashworthiness is improved,the safety of the occupants can further protect.(3)The collision test was carried out on the improved actual vehicle,the validity of the improved simulation model is verified by the analysis of the test results and the simulation results.And then according to the new version of C-NCAP in the side impact dummy injury evaluation index requirements,after the test of the dummy injury value of a detailed analysis,the total score of the resulting dummy injury score satisfies the 5-star rating requirement for the new C-NCAP side impact,which is the feasibility of the improved program.
