The rapid development of the city for decades has caused many urban problems.The transformation of urbanization represents that the focus of urban construction is shifted from the production-oriented urban material environment construction to the material environment construction to improve the residents’ quality of life.With the development of modern information technology,big data records of residents’ time-space activities and environmental attributes are emerging on a large scale.Especially for mobile phone signaling data,it has become the hot spot of scholars.Life circle is a geography and urban planning concept that reflects the spatial distribution of residents’ activities in the built-up environment.The study on the life circle is of crucial importance in grasping the time and space rules of residents’ activities.It also makes sense to guiding the construction of urban environment and improving the quality of life of residents.The main research contents of this study are as follows.The importance and rationality of dividing the life circle by introducing the time dimension are expounded by combing the related researches such as time geography and resident time-space behavior limitation.Based on the statistic of the proportion of time distribution of residents’ activities in different places and the types of places in the life circle,it is concluded the maximum distance when proportion of time dividing occupies 50%,80% and 95% of resident’s life time as the three radiuses of life circle.The method of calculating circle identification for mobile phone signaling data is proposed.It mainly includes the steps of determining the base station where residents reside,calculating the radius of each circle and calculating the average radii of the residents in each base station.In the empirical part,we use the mobile phone signaling data of residents in Zhuhai City to identify and ca lculate the radius of the life circle of residents living in different urban areas.Select the type of POI(point of interest)that has influence on the radius of the circle by corresponding to the main activity types of residents in different circles.Take the POI density,POI mixing degree,road network density and the distance to city center as the independent variable to establish a linear multiple regression model.The emp irical research shows that the spatial distribution of the radius of the life circle,which is defined by occupying the different lifetimes of the residents and based on the identification of the mobile phone signaling data,is basically in line with the actuality of the urban built environment.The model shows that there is a correlation between the built environmental variables and the radius of the life circle.Different types of POIs affect the radius in the different circles.The density of road network is negatively correlated with the radius of the circles.POI mixing degree and the distance to the center of the city is positively correlated with the radius of the circles.
