Research On Harbin Modern Church Building Reuse

Architectural heritage is indispensable to today’s urban landscape and image.However,in recent years,the speed of urban expansion has accelerated significantly.While seriously destroying the original spatial structure of the city,a large number of architectural heritage has also been destroyed "constructively".This is a huge waste of historical and cultural resources.Therefore,it is particularly important to adopt reasonable and effective reuse methods to repair and rationally transform the architectural heritage so that it can regain its use value and integrate into modern society.The modern churches in Harbin appeared with the construction of the Middle East Railway in 1898 and the construction of Harbin’s city.After a hundred years of development,these churches have become the witnesses of the city’s ups and downs and the development of modernization.They are also the unique cultural symbols and urban landscape of Harbin.Unfortunately,the churches in Harbin,like many other types of architectural heritage,have been damaged and destroyed to varying degrees.Although most churches have been protected and repaired,there are great differences in preservation and use among individuals.Therefore,the protection and effective use of the modern church buildings in Harbin has become a topic of increasing concern.The purpose of this study is to analyze and summarize the relevant concepts and methods of architectural heritage,especially the reuse of church buildings.Through the collection and consulting of literature,the construction and development of modern church buildings in Harbin and the value of each historical period are studied in depth.At the same time,the field research results are classified and analyzed,and the related concepts of church building reuse are combined.This paper puts forward the viewpoint that the reuse of modern church buildings in Harbin includes the protection and use of churches,and puts forward specific reuse methods for the two aspects in order to realize the vision of better survival and development of modern church buildings in Harbin in today’s society.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces the research background,purpose and significance,related concepts,research objects and scope,domestic and foreign related research,as well as research methods and contents.The second chapter is about the research on the related concepts and methods of the reuse of church buildings.Firstly,it combs and analyses the development,relevant concepts and methods of the reuse of architectural heritage in domestic and foreign legal documents.From the two aspects of the protection and use of church buildings,it puts forward the concept of the reuse of church buildings,and at the same time,it puts forward the concept of classification of protection and use,and gives corresponding suggestions.The protection and use methods provide the conceptual support for the following research.The third chapter is about the basic research,current situation and reuse of modern church buildings in Harbin.Firstly,based on the dissemination and development of modern foreign religions in Harbin,the process and characteristics of the construction and development of church buildings are explained in detail,and the unique value of church buildings in different historical periods is analyzed.At the same time,the 12 existing modern church buildings in Harbin are classified,and the specific problems are put forward,and the solutions to the problems are given.In addition,the influencing factors and practical significance of church reuse are also analyzed.Chapter IV is the research on the protection measures of modern church buildings in Harbin.Firstly,three protection principles of modern church buildings are put forward.The main structure and decorative elements of modern church buildings in Harbin are taken as protection objects,and protection measures with pertinence and non-interference degree are proposed for different protection objects.The fifth chapter is the study of the use of modern church buildings in Harbin.At the same time,three principles of the use of church buildings are put forward.According to the different ways of use of churches,they are divided into two types: function continuation and function replacement.For each type,corresponding requirements are put forward for its function,space and atmosphere.
