With the acceleration of China's industrialization and urbanization and the increasing scarcity of urban land resources, the demand for new multi-story,high-rise residential, industrial and commercial architectures continues to grow in China, and the elevator market in our country is confronted with opportunities. As an important market for the elevator industry worldwide,China is experiencing rapid economic growth and witnessing greater elevator demand. However,a secret worry of the elevator industry is that the safety issue is both prominent and critical.Accidents frequently happen to elevator maintenance staffs, and occupational hazards are getting more and more severe.Industrial statistics showed that safety training and supervision played a limited role in reducing occupational accidents. Therefore,it is becoming increasingly urgent for the management team of elevator enterprises to explore other solutions to this issue.Academic literatures suggested that a well-created corporate safety atmosphere can penetrate to every corner of the company, leading the employees to better implement self-control,which may provide another avenue for the solution of the occupational hazards issue in the elevator industry. This thesis analyzes the market environment of China's elevator industry. After briefly reviewing development of the elevator industry, the current situation of frequent occupational accidents as well as the probable causes are analyzed. Then Company Y is taken as an example, and its safety management status and the safety behavior of its employees are closely examined. In order to provide suggestions on the optimization of the safety management strategy of Company Y,a strategic analysis of its safety management is conducted.Based on results of these analyzes,we provide concrete suggestions on the optimization of safety process, supervision policy, reward and punishment systems and safety assignment.Findings of this thesis may bear important practical implications to the management of safety behaviors in the elevator industry.
