Tower crane is a kind of important construction machinery and special equipment,it is used widely,so its safety must be ensured to prevent accident.Overall design is the plan for the whole tower crane and it is the overall project for tower crane.Overall design can confirm the main parameters and forms of important institutions,it is an essential part for tower crane design.The overall design of this paper calculated some important parts of tower crane including the dead weight quality control,boom design,finite element analysis and overall stability.The overall parameters have great influence on tower crane.This paper have a quality control design of tower crane's dead weight.The target of quality control is reducing dead weight.The paper use Taguchi's three designs method in the dead weight quality control.The paper build objective function in system design.In parameter design,the paper confirm the best parameter combination of lifting capacity,lifting height and working rang.In tolerance design,the paper determine the tolerances of every parameter by contribution rate method.After the three designs,the tower crane can decrease dead weight and achieve the original goal.Boom is an important metal structure of tower crane.In boom design,the paper calculate the boom in three conditions.First,the paper use deformation superposition method to calculate the boom and determine the pull rod strength and deformation.Also,the column stability principle is used to determine cross section geometric dimension of the boom.Then,analysis the designed boom's force and deformation by ANSYS Workbench to ensure the boom can be safely used.Finally,the paper optimize the hoisting point position and decrease 52mm max deformation with surface optimization method.Overall stability is necessary step in tower crane design.The paper calculate overall stability with moment method.First,the stability effect factors are determined:dead weight load,hoisting load,wind load,inertial load and slope load.Then,according to the load coefficients,the paper determined basic stability,dynamic stability,storm resistance stability,preventing overturning backward stability and installation and uninstallation stability formulas.The calculation ensure the tower crane be stable and safe in any condition.
