With the development of large-span steel structures and high-rise buildings, the trend of tower crane is large-scale, specialization and lightweight, so the requirements of magnitude of their work are growing. Looking for an effective way to balance the working amplitude of the tower crane and the design method of the whole weight has important practical and theoretical significance.The subject comes from the joint development project of Shandong Architecture University and Shandong FOR YOU Engineering Machinery Co., Ltd. For the research status of tower crane boom and the development of large prestressed steel structure, combining with the method raised by manufacturers about changing the prestressed of flat top tower crane boom, the structural design and calculation of prestressed jib tower crane were done.The prestressed tower crane boom was parametric modeling based on the structure of the preliminary design through ANSYS finite element analysis software, and the upper and lower bearing was simplified during the modeling process. According to the parameters model of the tower crane, strength, stiffness and stability were analyzed. Prestressed rod system parameters were made further adjustments to meet the design requirements by the finite element analysis and practical experience. By compared the strain diagram and the maximum stress value under the same conditions and the same types of flat top tower crane. We verified the effectiveness and superiority of the jib of tower crane in prestressed.The use of well-established tower crane model, hanging position of prestressed rod of the boom is optimized by ANSYS optimization module. Hanging position is design variable, the maximum stress of the tower crane boom after loading is the objective function, the boundary conditions are to ensure the strength of the tower crane, we obtained the optimal position of lifting point and gave optimum lifting point position range of prestressed boom in this state. Finally, by adjusting the model of the hanging point position for optimized position, we get the optimized strain nephogram and maximum stress value; verify the hanging position of the tower crane structure influence.
