Due to the large impact on traffic and long implementation period,currently the often-used resilient modulus method in road maintenance cannot meet the requirement of a quick estimation of road damage.Aiming at the actual situation of the highway maintenance in Tianjin,this article will use the most common semi-rigid base asphalt roads as the research object,and calculate its resilient modulus based on each structural layer's deflection value of damaged roads to estimate its damage situation.The main works are as follows:(1)Investigate the current situation of asphalt road damage in Tianjin highway.Research and analyse on the road structure of pavement management system in Tianjin by using the method of cluster analysis to divide Tianjin highways into six typical structures.The analysis results of traffic volume and traffic axle have revealed that the overload vehicles are in high proportion on Tianjin trunk highway.The overload rate was 89.7%,which is much higher than the average proportion 22.1%.(2)This article introduces the road resilient modulus that is widely used in China,and analyses the advantages & disadvantages and applicable conditions of different measurement,suggesting Tianjin using Benkelman Beam testing as road resilient modulus method.And it also introduces the principles,procedure and test requirement of two type of resilient modulus,which are Benkelman Beam testing and auto-deflectometer.(3)According to the five aspects of traffic volume,road age,road structure etc.,2 typical road sections in Tianjin were selected.Through the research and analysis of road damage,the criteria of road damages has been put forward based on pavement strength index SSI,pavement damage and substrate samples.The deflection values of 2 typical road sections,semi-rigid base and lime soil sub-base,were measured to calculate the modulus of resilience of semi rigid base and lime soil base when different damages occur.The article proposed the resilient modulus' suggestion values of asphalt road damages,which can be quickly estimated.(4)Use the resilient modulus' suggestion value in the maintenance of Fuzhou access roads,and calculate its modulus according to the road detection data.Compare the modulus suggestion values to determine the damage of road structure and then confirm the thickness of road maintenance.
