The new steel-grid cassette structure presented by academician Ma Kejian in 2010,Steel-grid cassette structure consists of steel-grid wall frames in vertical direction and vierendeel sandwich plate in horizontal direction.The new steel-grid cassette structure has the characteristics of reasonable structure,safe,economic,and has been successfully applied in engineering.The intersection of vierendeel truss and column is composed of double T steel vierendeel truss unit of fellowship with H shaped steel column,is key point to connect systems in the two directions.The study on seismic performance of steel joints is necessary to the study on seismic performance of entire structure.To some degree,this subject is of instructive value to the development of integral assembly steel-grid cassette structure.Steel structure has good ductility and meets the requirement of structural seismic design.For the sake of reducing brittle failures of joint,this subject puts up with two solutions to achieve this,setting continuous grooved welds at the end of vierendeel truss and installing stiffeners at the end of vierendeel truss.Five joints of vierendeel truss and column had been designed and made based on full-scale T-shaped steel grid,and then they were tested under low-cyclic reversed loading.Several aspects of experiments had been analyzed,like failure process,bearing capacity,strain distribution,skeleton curve,hysteric curve,ductility and energy dissipation capacity.It turns out that both solutions are able to move plastic hinge outward,reduce brittle failures of root segment and improve seismic resistance.The stimulation and analysis of this intersection on finite element software Abaqus correspond to the outcome of experiment.The conclusions derived from of experiment and finite element simulation will offer something instructive for further study on intersection design and provide a reference to perfect cassette structure.
