In this paper,the preparation and application of scattering polarizer is introduced.Scattering polarizer is a translucent appearance of a slight haze of optical function of the film;When the polarized light incident,the optical axis parallel,through almost;optical axis perpendicular,the light scattering almost.Polyvinyl alcohol doped liquid crystal?PVA:LC?cast film is stretched to produce a scattering polarizer.Transparent projection screen is a novel screen,in shopping malls,exhibition halls,railway stations,airports terminal and other applications.As a transparent rear projection screen,the scattering polarizer has the application foreground.The scattering polarizer and reflective polarizer composite together,as a transparent in front projection screen,the effect of magic,the market is looking forward to the new technology products.In the first chapter,the conception and research progress of polarizer,liquid crystal,polymer dispersed liquid crystal and stressed liquid crystal are introduced.Meanwhile,the contents and significance of this paper are discussed,the difficulties encountered in this paper are illustrated as well.In the second chapter,we introduce the theory and current situation of the scattering polarizer as a transparent projection screen.The main contents consist of:the birefringence properties of liquid crystal materials,the principle and manufacturing technology of absorbing polarizer and reflecting polarizer,the principle and design of scattering polarizer,the imaging principle of holographic film transparent projection screen,polymer dispersed liquid crystal transparent projection screen and sheared liquid crystal polarized glass transparent projection screen.In the third chapter,the experimental materials and preparation process of polyvinyl alcohol doped liquid crystal scattering polarizer are described.The test results show that the light transmittance and the degree of polarization are detected.The effect of the preparation of the scattering polarizer as a transparent projection screen is displayed.Although the scattering polarizer has been successfully prepared,but the preliminary sample does not achieve the desired effect,both high transmittance and high degree of polarization,so the experiment still needs further improvement.In the fourth chapter,the theory of light transmittance and degree of polarization of polyvinyl alcohol?PVA?doped liquid crystal scattering polarizer is discussed.To establish an ideal model,selecting representative points to represent the different liquid crystal molecules average orientation,thus calculating the incident light transmittance and the polarization degree of scattering polarizer,when liquid crystal droplet radius R is fixed,with the increase of stretching ratio,o transmission rate of light is gradually increased,infinite close to the initial intensity of I0;and the e light transmittance is gradually decreased,infinitely close to 0,the degree of polarization of P is gradually increasing,which is consistent with the actual.In chapter 5,the application of polyvinyl alcohol?PVA?doped liquid crystal scattering polarizer is discussed.The absorbing polarizer and the reflecting polarizer are combined with the scattering polarizer to observe the effect of the projection imaging on the rear projection mode and the front projection mode.And the prospect of application is forecasted.The development of the scattering polarizer has the research significance of the liquid crystal device and the practical value of developing the transparent projection screen product.
