Under the background of building "Beautiful China" and implementing "City Betterment" and "Ecological Restoration",this paper investigates the ancient Eight Scenes of Huizhou West Lake,which does not only meet the practical need to protect historical and cultural heritage and city ecology,but also satisfies the people’s demand of the era for building beautiful Huizhou and creating a better life.Huizhou West Lake,originally known as Fenghu,has a long history and is well-known.With Dongjiang River facing in the north and Fengshan Mountain in the west,the natural layout is very good.There are five lakes,six bridges and eight scenes.The "Yixiang" is rich and the "Yijing" is far-reaching.It is not only an important representative of Lingnan gardens,but also an important representative of Chinese literati’s ldandscape gardens.As early as the Northern Song Dynasty Zhiping three years(1066),Huizhou Taishou Chen Yu proposed"Huiyang Eight Scenes":"Hefeng Qingzhao,Yanta Xiehui,Taoyuan Riwen,Lipu Fengqing,Fenghu Yuchang,Banjin qiaogui,Shansi Lanyan and the Shuilian Feipu,so called " the Ancient Eight Scenes of Huizhou West Lake".As an important cultural landscape heritage of Huizhou West Lake,the Eight Scenes of Huizhou West Lake is not only an important clue to research the historical changes of Lingnan traditional gardens,but also a classic case for studying the aesthetic cultural value of Lingnan gardens.Based on field investigations,collecting historical records,local chronicles,poems and other Ancient literature and image,this thesis uses the interdisciplinary comprehensive research method of landscape semiotics and landscape aesthetics to take the Eight Scenes of Huizhou West Lake as research objects.Based on landscape semiotics,I attempt to explore the historical origins and landscaping rules of the Eight Scenes of Huizhou West Lake,and carry out three levels of research on "Wuxiang" presentation," Shixiang" representation and" Yixiang" creation of the Eight Scenes of Huizhou West Lake:(1)From the level of "Wuxiang" presentation about the Eight Scenes of Huizhou West Lake,it analyzes the natural and humanistic "Wuxiang" and their combinations,the way of landscape "Wuxiang" presentation in the "Three Perspectives" and the perception of"multidimensional dynamics"(2)From the level of "Shixiang" representation about the Eight Scenes of Huizhou West Lake,by studying engraving illustrations in the local chronicles of the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the photographs in the pictorial and books of Republic of China and contemporary of the landscape paintings of Huizhou West Lake,it can be concluded that there are three representation models concerned with panoramic vision of landscape narration,fixed moment of the key scenes and situational reappearance of visual reality.(3)From the level of "Yixiang" creation about the Eight Scenes of Huizhou West Lake,it describes the law of poetry about the Eight Scenes of Huizhou West Lake,the temperament and structure of the Eight Scenes of Huizhou West Lake;It also states the basic "Yixiang" and secondary "Yixiang" of the Eight Scenes of Huizhou West Lake and the creation process of the Eight Scenes of Huizhou West Lake.The research of this thesis expands the horizon and methods of landscape architecture disciplines at the theoretical level,deepens the research depth of landscape architecture history and theory and the research content of landscape aesthetics.In the practical aspect,it helps protect the precious historical and cultural heritage of Huizhou,promote the old Huizhou city restoration,and explore the aesthetic culture of the ancient Eight Scenes of Huizhou West Lake,providing useful guidance for the scenic garden practice activities in Huizhou and even the whole country.
