Research On Subway Public Space Design In The Context Of Urban Culture

Along with the accelerated urban modernization process,public transportation system is developing rapidly.As a highly efficient and convenient vehicle,metro has become people's first choice of travel ways.Metro public space is not only an integral part of urban rail transit system but also a major public space associating with people's daily life frequently.Most Chinese and foreign designs concerning metro public space will take into account of territorial cultural characteristics as the main design element,and thus forms a unique public space culture that carries the role of spreading,inheriting and developing urban culture as well as reflects the value orientation of urban culture,thereby becoming an important window of displaying city cultural image.It is of great significance for modern city's development to conduct researches on the application of urban culture in metro public space designs.In view of current leap-forward economic development in China,it is important to enhance national confidence for strong national spirit.Metro public space is a key area for spreading and inheriting urban culture.Urban culture is an integral part of national culture,and metro public space serves as a flexible window of spreading national culture and enhancing national confidence.In the early stage,the artistic expressions in metro public space mainly took the form of cameos,frescoes and sculptures,which was relatively stereotyped.They were mostly the substitute of traditional art forms of galleries and museums,ignoring the concern for specific space culture in the metro.In regard with the art form of urban metro public space,traditional art forms purely play the function of decorating the public space whereas fail to stimulate the real artistic energy of urban metro public space.Therefore,aiming at this problem,the article conducts inductive analysis on the application form of urban culture in Wuhan's metro public space through data analysis,field investigation and combined theories and real situation,and meanwhile explores methods and effective paths of involving urban culture in Wuhan's metro public space designs by analyzing Wuhan's metro public space designs.
