Reinforced concrete columns confined with CFRP tube is a kind of composite column formed by setting reinforcing steel in the CFRP tube and pouring the concrete. It has the advantages of high strength, corrosion resistance and so on.In this paper, the axial compressive bearing capacity and hysteretic behavior of reinforced concrete short columns confined with CFRP tube are studied.First of all, axial compression experiments were performed on 5 groups of CFRP tube filled with reinforced concrete specimens. Then the axial compression behavior of 14 composite columns were analyzed using the commercial finite element software ABAQUS,which revealed the mechanical mechanism of the components.Based on the model, the effects of the thickness of the CFRP tubes, steel ratio, slenderness ratio of the component on the load bearing capacity of components were studied, concluded that the axial compression behavior law of these design parameters. On the foundation of Tsai-Hill theory and uniform theory, the formula of ultimate bearing capacities is worked out.The accuracy of the formula is verified by comparing the calculation values of bearing capacity with the experimental values and simulation results. And then, based on the verified numerical model,33 composite columns were analyzed which were subjected to axial pressure and horizontal reciprocating force. The hysteresis curves were obtained, and the effects of axial pressure ratio, wall thickness, steel ratio, slenderness ratio and other factors on the hysteretic behavior were studied. The research in this paper shows that CFRP tubes can improve the axial bearing capacity and horizontal bearing capacity of the composite component, and it will improve the ductility of the component.
