The hydraulic excavator is a kind of very important construction machinery widely used in modern construction, such as buildings, water projects, mining, etc. The working device is one of the most important parts of hydraulic excavator, and its performance directly reflects the level of a hydraulic excavator. So,it's very meaningful to study the working device. It's a useful way to analyze and optimize the working device by finite element method(FEM).This paper tak:es the working device of a hydraulic excavator as research object.Complete finite element analysis is conducted on the working device. The main work is as follows:1.The general principals of element selection and grid generation are studied. This paper focuses on the finite element(FE)modeling method of working device.By comparing the results of different simplified FE models with the real model of board connection and joint structure, the characteristics and rationality analysis of the results have been proposed. The rigid-flexible coupling modeling and the FM modeling method between 3D solid and shell are studied.2.The rigid-flexible coupling FE model is established by using ANSYS Workbench.Boom and arm are put together by a joint,so they can be analyzed as a whole.According to the principle of maximum bending moment, four typical conditions are determined as a major attitude of strength analysis. The theoretical digging forces of the hydraulic excavator are calculated under different conditions. The overall FE analysis of working device is carried out and the weak parts of the stress concentration are determined.3.A stress test of working device is taken to verify the validity of FE model. The test shows that the rigid-flex FE model is reasonable. This method has certain guiding significance for the analysis of similar products.
