Optical delay line is widely used in technology area,such as: communcaition,electric technology and so on,it plays very important role when phase delay is needed.This article is about a kind of new optical delay line,which runs with larger range and steps in micron order.Optical fibre technology,collimation technology and mechanical design are involved in the development.Firstly,a project is raised according to design objective,and then optimize the project to evaluate Thermal stress and Thermal deformation of optical delay device Finite Element Analysis(FEA)is used based on Thermal stress theory.At the temperature range from-40? to 85?,we studied the structure and material of the optical delay device,and explore the thermal stability and optical stability with the pictures those describe the stress distribution and displacement.Finally we choose ABS as the base material.Reduce the Abbe error by arranging collimaters.Reduce weight by sectcutting cube-corner prism.At last,laser interferometer is used to test the accuracy of one motor step,the result is 0.795?m,and it is suggested that ABS,a kind of engineering plastic,applies to the optical delay device which needs high thermal stability and optical stability.
