Sulfur modified asphalt concrete possesses outstanding performance of hightemperature rutting resistance,and sulphur can substitute part of bitumen in the mixture to save the cost of the mixture.However,to some extent sulphur reduces the moisture resistance ability and time durability of asphalt mixture.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to improve pavement performance of sulfur asphalt mixture especially for the moisture resistance ability and extend its service life.In this paper,brake pad powder was added as filler to sulfur modified asphalt and sulfur modified asphalt mixture.The effect of brake pad powder on performance of sulfur modified asphalt mortar and mixture was studied by AC-13,and based on this,the optimal amount of brake pad powder was determined.Finally,the viscoelastic properties of brake pad-sulfur modified asphalt mixture and ordinary sulfur modified asphalt mixture were compared and analyzed.The test results of asphalt mortar show that:(1)The brake pad powder significantly increases the softening point of the sulfur-modified asphalt mortar,and at the same time reduces the penetration and ductility of the sulfur-modified asphalt mortar;(2)The rutting parameter G*/Sin? of sulfur-modified asphalt mortar increases with the increase of the amount of brake pad powder,and the change law of the two shows a good linear relationship;(3)The 50% blended sulfur modified asphalt mixture has similar fatigue properties to ordinary sulfur modified asphalt mortar.The test results of asphalt mixture show that:(1)In the study of pavement performance of sulfur-modified asphalt mixture,brake pad powder can improve the moisture resistance ability of sulfur-modified asphalt mixture,high temperature resistance ability,bending tensile strength under normal and low temperatures,and fatigue life under normal temperatures.(2)The viscoelastic properties test results of brake pad-sulfur modified asphalt mixture showed that:(1)With the rise of temperature,the higher the degree of softness of the asphalt mixture,the smaller the modulus.(2)The stress level has a certain impact on the viscoelastic properties of asphalt mixtures.At 0.3MPa,the four viscoelastic parameters of the two types of asphalt mixtures are the largest.(3)The viscoelastic properties of sulfur modified asphalt mixture is affected by the brake pad powder,and the level of viscoelastic properties is sensitive to the stress level.When the stress level is 0.7MPa,brake pad powder can improve the viscoelastic properties of sulfur modified asphalt mixture.Through the research on pavement performance and viscoelastic properties of the brake pad-sulfur modified asphalt and its mixture,it is proved that the brake pad powder can effectively improve pavement performance of the sulfur modified asphalt mixture,and provide certain guidance for the resource utilization of brake pad powder.
