Due to its simple structure,direct output of large torque,and convenient installation.The rotary vane actuator(RVA)has been widely used in marine equipment,automobile industry,aerospace,etc.The vane seal is the core part of the rotary vane actuator,which is of great significance for the long-term normal use of the RVA.O-rings are widely used in RVA vane seals because of their good versatility.However,in the long-term use process,the sealing failure of the seal due to fatigue fracture and excessive wear has a great influence on the service life of the RVA.The main research content of this paper includes the following aspects:(1)The numerical analysis model of O-ring static seal of RVA seal was established by ABAQUS finite element analysis software.The contact pressure and Von Mises stress distribution of O-ring under pre-compression and oil pressure were studied.The effect of rubber hardness,vane fillet and seal clearance on the sealing performance and service life of the O-ring is considered.(2)Based on the theory of fracture mechanics,the energy release rate is taken as the damage parameter,and the stress and strain experimental data of the O-ring is processed.The fatigue life model of the O-ring and the fatigue life of some nodes on the dangerous section are calculated.At the same time,the FEMFAT fatigue analysis software is used to analyze the dangerous section of the O-ring,and the fatigue life of the dangerous node is calculated.Comparing the theoretical calculation results,the feasibility of using fracture mechanics to analyze the fatigue life of O-rings is verified.(3)Based on the Archard friction and wear model,the seals with different degrees of wear were simulated to determine the maximum wear depth under different conditions.The simulation results were analyzed and the wear life under different conditions was calculated.The wear life and fatigue fracture life under different working conditions were compared,and the main factors leading to seal failure were analyzed.(4)The RVA developed by the laboratory was used to carry out the seal failure experiment,and the cause of the damage of the blade seal O-ring was analyzed,and the analysis and improvement were carried out to realize the long-term stable operation of the RVA under high pressure conditions.This paper provides a theoretical basis for understanding the causes of sealing failure under different working conditions and predicting the service life by improving the structural design.
