With the high and steady development of economy, our country is advancing into a society of automobile and is entering an era of popular auto consumption. China has already been one of the most potential areas in the world for automobile development. In the future few years, China will become the main auto market. Steering knuckle is one of the most important car security parts, which supports the body weight, transfers steering moment and endures braking moment of the front wheel. The requirement of its mechanical characteristics and contour structure is so strict that it is very hard to produce. Such kind of forging is of mold ones and the study of its proper designing and processing technology is of great significance for Chinese auto parts development. In this paper, steering knuckle forging of JN162 is studied. Based on the software PRO/E and SuperForge, the forging process of steering knuckle is simulatively analyzed and computerized numerical control (CNC) technology of the die is studied systematically.First of all, the basic theories of finite element and FVM (finite volume method) analysis are introduced in details, which establishes theoretical basis for the study.Secondly, the forging process of steering knuckle is analyzed. Proper forging equipments and the forging process of steering knuckle are set. At the same time, it introduces the main structures and types of the steering knuckle and forging die.Thirdly, it introduces the basic theoy of finite element--he finite volume method and the 3D simulation software SuperForge.3D finite element model of steering knuckle forming is established. Systematical analysis on the steering knuckle forging die is also made with SuperForge software. The forming process of the performing, pre-forging and finish-forging for the steering knuckle is analyzed. Thus the material deformation laws and load-stroke curve are predicted. The distribution of the stress and strain in blank is obtained. According to the problems discovered by the simulation, equitable mold is designed.Finally, JN162 milling technology is introduced. At the same time, numerical control processing technology and heat treatment process technology are analyzed on JN162 blow mold. Proper parameters are given, and proper processing is set. Technical and ecocomic analyses are also made on the two mold cavity processing methods---wire processing technology and numerical control technology. Hence an efficient way of steering knuckle processing is provided.
