| As an important pillar industry of national economic development, the automobile industry represents the level of industrialization and competitiveness of the country as a whole. After joining the WTO,China’s automobile industry has continuously expanded to the outside world and has been able to develop rapidly. At the same time, its international competitiveness has gradually improved.Since 2009,it has been ranked first in the world in terms of automobile production and sales. At present,China has become a major automobile country in the world, but it is not a car power.Compared with the top 10 countries in the world in terms of automobile production and sales,China’s automobile industry needs to be further improved. In 2018,Chinese President Xi Jinping announced measures to continue to expand the opening up of the automobile industry, which is particularly important for the future development of the automobile industry.By analyzing the impact of opening up on the international competitiveness of China’s auto industry,we can accurately grasp the opportunities and take effective measures in a timely manner, but further promote China to become a world auto power. This article is divided into six chapters. The first chapter mainly reviews the domestic and foreign literatures and expounds the background and significance of the topic selection. The second chapter expounds the relevant theories of industrial international competitiveness, and analyzes the automobile industry’s opening up to influence the automobile industry from the aspects of trade and foreign investment. The mechanism of international competitiveness;the third chapter describes the history and current situation of China’s auto industry opening up from three aspects:industrial policy, trade and foreign investment;the fourth chapter selects the five indicators, respectively, from the overall and product classification to the international competition of automobiles. The level of force was calculated and analyzed, and compared with other countries. The fifth chapter uses the stata software to first study the panel data of China’s auto industry from 2001 to 2016,and then study the opening up to the car according to the classification of automobile products. The impact of the international competitiveness of motorcycles, motorcycles and automobile and motorcycle parts. Finally, based on the empirical results of this paper, the countermeasures are proposed.Through the theory, current situation and empirical research, this paper draws the following conclusions:(1)By combing the relevant policies of China’s automobile industry, the continuous expansion of opening up is mainly reflected in the two aspects of trade and foreign investment:①reducing import tariffs, eliminating quotas, and licensing.Non-tariff barrier measures such as certificates;②from restrictions to encouraging investment in complete vehicles and parts, and removing restrictions on localization.(2)By evaluating and comparing relevant indicators,we can understand that the overall competitiveness of China’s auto industry is on the rise, but compared with other countries, the international competitiveness of auto(mainly vehicle-based)and parts and components Weak, the international competitiveness of motorcycles is relatively strong.(3)Conducting multiple regression analysis by controlling the three variables of R&D level, economies of scale and per capita GDP,and studying the impact of opening up on international competitiveness, thus drawing the trade openness and investment openness to the international competitiveness of the automotive industry. There is a significant positive impact,in which the impact of trade openness is greater than the impact of foreign investment openness. As a result, the expansion of opening up can promote the international competitiveness of the automotive industry, while the level of research and development and economies of scale also have a significant positive impact on international competitiveness. From the perspective of product classification, trade openness and investment openness can significantly promote the international competitiveness of automobile(mainly vehicle-based)and parts and components, and the impact of investment openness on the international competitiveness of motorcycles is not significant. |
