Study On The Archetype Of Church Building In The Western Part Of The Apostolic Vicariate Of Southern Shandong

This paper takes the western church buildings in the modern Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Shandong as the research object,and expounds the historical overview of the propagating of Catholicism and its architectural activities in Southern Shandong by referring to domestic and foreign literatures and local historical records.The field research of current situation and surveying and mapping work is carried out.It also conducts the investigation and analysis of the historical evolution,distribution status,architectural forms and characteristics of the western church buildings of the modern Catholicism in the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Shandong.Meanwhile,it analyzes the concrete embodiment of the archetypes of the church buildings of the western church buildings in the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Shandong,and compares them with other church buildings in Shandong province during the same period.The purpose is to provide research results with historical data value for the church building history in the modern Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Shandong,and reveal the unique heritage value of the church buildings in the modern Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Shandong.The first chapter in this paper is the introduction,which introduces the research background,significance,research status at home and abroad.It defines related concepts,and theoretically traces the origin of archetype theory from architecture and analytical psychology.It aims to provide theoretical foundation for the research of church building archetypes,and sort out the research framework of this paper.The second chapter introduces the propagating process and architectural activities of the Catholic SVD in the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Shandong.Through field research,surveying and mapping,we sort out the architectural data of the existing western church buildings and some destroyed buildings in the modern Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Shandong and provide the time and space limits for this paper.The third chapter divides the architectural archetypes of the SVD Church into ritual archetype,awe-inspiring archetype,infinite archetype,and geometric archetype.On the theoretical basis of archetype theory,it elucidates each archetype in the embodiment of four levels as architectural space,form,structure and decoration.At the same time,it discusses the regional embodiment of the architectural archetypes of the SVD Church in China.The "Chinese style" characteristics of the archetype material expression and the contradictions of architectural archetypes between the Chinese architecture and the SVD Church will be analyzed.Also the material expression of the“collective unconsciousness”concept of the church as the spiritual place will be analyzed.The fourth chapter obtains the material expression elements of the church as the spiritual place and the regional characteristics of the architectural archetypes on the basis of the discussion and analysis in the third chapter.It combines the current protection principles to put forward the key points of church building protection,so as to provide protection basis for the daily protection and repair work of modern church buildings.
