Study On The Protection Of Church Buildings In The Eastern Part Of The Apostolic Vicariate Of Southern Shandong From The Perspective Of Tectonic Culture

This thesis takes the tectonic culture and protection of church building in Eastern of Southern of Shandong Apostolic Vicariate as the research object.Firstly,the field investigation and surveying and mapping work were carried out.The current situation of building distribution,historical evolution,construction technology,architectural form and decoration were investigated and analyzed,and compared with foreign church buildings,providing historical research value for the church building history of modern Southern of Shandong Apostolic Vicariate,revealing the unique heritage value of church buildings in modern Southern of Shandong Apostolic Vicariate.There are two ways of importing modern western architectural system into China according to the existing research on the history of modern Chinese architecture: First,the strong input of the western architectural system starting from the concessions and leased lands opened up by the imperialist powers;second,starting with Westernization Movement,the Chinese government and society were actively introduced the modern western architectural system.However,as an important way to spread the western architectural system,church-led church architecture is easily neglected in the study of modern Chinese architectural history.In the process of its dissemination,western architecture and regional architectural culture collide and blend,forming a rich and colorful historical aspect of the church architecture in the process of “Sinicization”.A large number of church buildings in pastoral areas of the Southern Shandong Dynasty in modern times were constructed by local craftsmen and villagers under the guidance of missionaries.The use of regional materials and appropriate technology in the construction process is an important sample of regional connotation in the dissemination of western architectural technology,which has greatresearch value.The first chapter of this paper is an introduction,which mainly defines the relevant concepts and introduces the research background,significance,current research situation at home and abroad and the framework of the thesis.According to Kenneth Frampton’s book Studies in Tectonic Culture,eight points of the constructive culture in the book were introduced,and combined with the theoretical research of Mueller,Semper and Seckler,sorting out and summarizing the construction of cultural framework,which is divided into three levels:environment,design and construction.The construction of cultural framework is the theoretical basis for supporting this paper;the second chapter introduces the missionary process of the Catholic Church in the modern Eastern of Southern of Shandong Apostolic Vicariate,providing time and space limits for the later chapters,and sorting out the construction process of the existing church and its ancillary buildings in the east of the Southern Pastoral Area through field research,surveying and mapping which provided sufficient examples for the thesis.The third chapter is based on the construction culture.From the perspective of religious spiritual expression,the thesis combined the expression of religious spirit and Frampton and analyzed the church buildings in the pastoral areas of the modern Eastern of Southern of Shandong Apostolic Vicariate from three aspects: environment,design and construction.And referring to the study of the design techniques of several famous medieval Catholic churches in the foreign literature,summed up the geometric proportion rule of the church building in the Eastern Part of The Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Shandong.The four chapters start from the Sinicization of the church building in the Eastern of Southern of Shandong,and integrate Sinicization into the construction culture.The Sinicization of the church building in the Eastern of Southern of Shandong is also divided into three directions: the Sinicization of the environment,the Sinicization of the design,and the Sinicization of the creation.The Chinese characteristics of church buildings are sorted out.In the fifth chapter,we will evaluate the value of Eastern Church buildings in the Eastern of Southern of Shandong Apostolic Vicariate from the perspective of constructive culture,and put forward appropriate protection and renovation schemes based on the damage status of existing church buildings,so as to provide basic information for the protection and renovation of modern church buildings.
