Mountainous city Chongqing due to the particularity of its landform,road construction is limited by innate geographical conditions,and there are some imbalance problems in the road network structure.With the development of the city's economy,the number of motor vehicles has been increasing rapidly,and traffic congestion is increasing year by year.Bus lanes as one of the urban traffic strategies for realizing bus priority.Many big cities at home and abroad have verified its superiority in mitigating traffic congestion and promoting bus priority.However,considering the special geographical conditions of Chongqing and the limitations of the road network,as well as the failure of the first Bus Rapid Transit in Chongqing,it is necessary to study the impact of the bus lanes on the road traffic in the main urban area of Chongqing to find out whether the bus lanes can help the central urban district of Chongqing to solve the traffic congestion of urban road.On the basis of reviewing a large number of domestic and foreign bus lane related literatures,this paper outlines the basic concepts of mountainous cities and bus lanes,and summarizes the setting forms of bus lanes on the road sections,the installation forms of bus-specific entrances to intersections,and the setting forms of the bus stop on bus lanes.Based on the current situation of the main urban area of Chongqing and the typical case of failure of the first BRT in Chongqing,the necessary conditions for setting up bus lanes for the main roads in the main urban area of Chongqing are proposed(Lane number conditions,bus flow conditions,bus passenger flow conditions,and the best flow rate of the bus).Based on the necessary condition,Xuefu Road Section and the intersection of Xuefu Road and Lanhua Road was selected as the research object,and observe the morning and evening peaks(by hour).Based on the data acquisition results,the simulation model before and after the bus lane was established by using VISSIM micro-simulation software.Taking the average speed of social vehicles,the average speed of public transport vehicles,the travel time of social vehicles,the travel time of buses,the travel time per person,the average delay of social vehicles,the average delay of buses,and the per capita delay are used as evaluation indicators.Continue to investigate the traffic conditions after the official opening of the bus lane,and compare it with the simulation results to verify the credibility of the simulation software.According to the analysis results,the optimization plan is proposed for the time interval of opening the bus lane and the signal timing of the intersection.,thereby ensuring the priority of the bus,highlighting the superiority of the bus lane,and verifying the feasibility of the optimization scheme by using VISSIM software.The results show that the establishment of bus lanes in the central urban district of Chongqing can effectively improve the operational efficiency of the roads.The research results provide a certain reference value for the development of public transportation and the establishment of public transport priority systems in mountainous cities.
