Plateau highway is different with plain highway in environment and landform, which require plateau drivers to possess well psychology and physiology quality. With the expanding of plateau highway density in recent years, more and more plateau highways are used to serve people, but the number of plateau traffic accidents are increasing.According to research, driving fatigue is primary factor in occurring plateau traffic accident,in other side,In the driving process of plateau driver, with the increasing of altitude and the decreasing of oxygen density, drivers' fatigue feeling will become more obvious.Besides,in the view of the distance between countries is long,so drivers need to drive car long time, however, the continual long time to drive car is easily result in muscular soreness and inattention, which is threaten to drivers' safety. So,it is necessary to research plateau drivers' workload in low oxygen highway. This paper regard the Pamirs drivers as research object and uses subjective and objective ways to research plateau drivers' workload at the basic of ergonomics, driver suitability and fuzzy cluster theory.First of all, analyzing the plateau drivers' suitability by get drivers' suitability indexes including view, speed estimation, response time, disposal of judgment and using questionnaire to understand drivers' fundament information and driving feeling.Second, the definition of plateau driver workload from psychological stress, mental load, physical load.Get drivers' ECG,EEG and EMG signals by driving test.Evaluation indexes including heart growth rate,EEG characteristic index R and IEMG.Analyzing the relation between three indexes and altitude, driving time and building relative model. Finally, using fuzzy cluster theory to classify plateau driver workload into four categories and drivers' characteristic indexes under different categories. The evaluation indexes of plateau driver workload included heart growth rate,EEG characteristic R and IEMG.Used SPSS to build relationship model between these indexes and altitude, driving time. The analysis results showed that with the increasing of altitude and driving time, plateau drivers' heart growth rate,EEG characteristic R and IEMG became larger meaned that plateau drivers' psychologic stress, mental load, physical load increased gradually on condition that long time to drive car in high altitude road. The result of using fuzzy cluster theory to classify driver workload showed that workload could gradually increased when drivers had long time to drive in high altitude district.Plateau drivers' heart growth rate,EEG characteristic R and IEMG had different change under different workload levels, and the change was three indexes had a larger growth trend.
