Under the background of China’s efforts to promote new-type urbanization and explore sustainable development,urban agglomerations has become an important strategy to promote economic development and coordination and interaction within the regional internal structure,and the rapid transportation brought by airports has become an important engine increasingly for leading regional economic and social development.As a product of the combination of urban agglomeration and airport,the airport agglomeration can not only play the scale effect brought by the resource cluster,but also support the coordinated development of the region.In recent years,the airport agglomeration with the international gateway airport as the core has begun to receive more and more attention.It can be said that the planning and construction of the airport agglomeration will become the key to the development of the transportation sector in China in the future.The Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration is located in the central part of China.It is based on the geographical scope of the Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration and relies on the airport organization form formed by each airport.With the rapid rise of the Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration and the full implementation of the policy for Zhengzhou’s construction as a national central city,the role of the Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration in regional economic and social development has become increasingly prominent.However,as a spontaneously formed emerging airport agglomeration,the Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration has complicated competition and cooperation between its members.The core airport is not strong,the airport is not clearly defined,and the resource allocation is unreasonable.Therefore,on the basis of exploringthe level of coordinated development of the Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration,the corresponding construction path is proposed to promote the clear internal structure of the airport group and clear division of labor,so as to play a good role in the regional economic and social development of the airport,which is an important theme of development of the Zhongyuan airport group in the future.On the basis of systematically reviewing related literatures at home and abroad,this paper redefines the content and scope of the concept of airport agglomeration by analyzing many concepts related to airport agglomeration,and proposes the concept of Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration.Based on the theory of Synergistics Theory,System Theory,Growth Pole Theory and Sustainable Development Theory,using the case analysis and comparative analysis,the development process of the Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration is divided into the germination stage,the stagnation stage,the growth stage,the promotion stage and the integration stage.And compared with Yangtze River Delta Airport Agglomeration and Airport Agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River,and then find a gap between the Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration and the domestic airport agglomeration;using the improved convergence coefficient evaluation method model to analyze the convergence characteristics of the airports in the Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration,the study found the Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration’s positioning of each airport is not clear,and the development of some airports is relatively high.The comprehensive strength of the core airport Zhengzhou Xinzheng Airport needs to be improved.The improved similarity coefficient calculation model is used to measure the homogenization characteristics of the airports of the Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration.The study found that due to the small number of airports and the concentrated distribution of density in the space,the Luoyang Beijiao Airport and its surrounding airports have a high homogenizationphenomenon over the years.Through the construction of the Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration collaborative development level evaluation system and the use of Analytic Hierarchy Process based Delphi Method,standard deviation,comprehensive weighting method based minimum entropy and the improved comprehensive coordination degree measurement model are used to calculate the current overall level of coordinated development of the Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration.It is found that the current level of overall coordinated development of the Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration is low,only reaching the low coordination stage.The core airport resources are over-concentrated,and the cooperative functions of the auxiliary airports are insufficient.The overall characteristics of “one main and multiple auxiliary,the best super and strong is only one” are presented.Based on the various problems that Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration is currently advancing for coordinated development,this paper summarizes and generalizes the reasons that affect the coordinated development of the Zhongyuan Airport Agglomeration from the perspective of overall and individual,quantity and quality,and space.Suggestions for measures such as cooperating with the Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration and proposing a unified development plan,upgrading the size of the core airport and striving to build a world-class transit hub,accelerating the progress of new airport operations and filling regional air transport gaps,promoting the adjustment for management rights of airport and establishing regional management institutions,and setting up local airlines and improving the development path of airspace resources expansion and utilization.
