Energy dissipation design is to install energy dissipation devices in the original structure to consume seismic energy together with the original structure,so as to reduce the seismic influence and improve the safety of the structure.As one of the energy dissipation devices,viscous damper has clear mechanical concept and good energy dissipation performance.It has became the most widely used energy dissipation device in the current.The purpose of this paper is to study the influence of viscous dampers on the seismic performance of structures in the details.Taking an eight-story frame structure as an engineering example,using SAP2000 software to calculate and analyse the frame structure to prove the good performance of energy dissipation and seismic reduction of viscous dampers by analysing the shear force and the displacement angle between stories.Propose a method or a procedure to guide the design of energy dissipation system based on infering the calculation method of equivalent damping ratio of viscous dampers.The specific research contents of this paper:(1)Expound the development process of engineering seismic design and introduce the concept of engineering structure seismic control and introduce the general situation of energy dissipation technology and discuss the application status of viscous dampers.(2)Expound the theory of viscous dampers and the construction forms of different types of dampers.Explain the force restoring model of viscous dampers in details,and point out the Maxwell model.Introduce the general design parameters of viscous dampers,and explain the effect of adopting different design parameters on dampers.(3)Elastic spectrum theory is the theoretical basis of seismic force calculation in the seismic design code in our country.Elaborate the calculation process of mode decomposition response method in details.Introduce the elastic spectrum analysis of single-particle energy dissipation system and multi-particle energy dissipation system respectively.Analysing the elastic-plastic state of energy dissipation system by using fast non-linear analysis method(FNA).(4)By using YJK and SAP 2000,analyze the energy dissipation structure with viscousdamper.Taking the floor displacement angle,floor shear force,floor maximum displacement,floor maximum velocity and floor maximum acceleration as indicators,compare the uncontrolled structure to the controlled structure,to prove the good seismic performance of viscous dampers,and check the deformation under strong earthquakes.Propose a design process of energy dissipation which would anslyze the floor displacement or floor shear,based on iterative calculation of equivalent damping ratio and describe its specific design steps.
