Study On The Planning Of Garden Exposition In Arid Areas

Since Kunming International Horticultural Exposition from the end of the 20th century,Garden Exposition has been developed for more than ten years in China,it's influence has been increased and becomes a major event in host cities.However,Garden Exposition was always held in the eastern and southern areas over the years,the northwest areas were forgotten.Therefore,this paper studies on the planning of Garden Exposition in arid areas which intended to advance the development of Garden Exposition in the arid areas of northwest China.The arid areas in northwest China have unique advantage in territory,culture and geomorphology.Hosting Garden Exposition will bring vitality to the whole city even the region,enhance economic and ecological environment in the same time.Through analysis and summarization in landscape design of Garden Exposition,this paper studies the characteristics of the arid areas,summarizes the principles and theoretical basis for the landscape planning in arid areas.On the basis of previous,this paper explores new methods in the planning of arid areas through the conceptual planning of Urumqi for the 12th China International Garden Exposition,finding suitable theoretical system and concrete measures for the planning of Garden Exposition in arid areas.
