Comparative Analysis Of Fractal Evolution Of Old Coastal Communities Inside And Outside Xiamen Island In The Process Of Urbanization

After the reform and opening-up,the urbanization process in china has obviously accelerated,and the scale of cities has expanded dramatically.As a typical coastal city,Xiamen has entered the period of rapid urbanization since 1980.It has gone through three stages:the infrastructure construction period,the industrial restructuring period and cultural operation period.In the process of rapid urbanization,the old coastal communities have undergone tremendous changes,the traditional urban-rural dual structure has been broken,and the economic structure,regional landscape and other elements in the boundary between urban and rural have become increasingly blurred.However,there are still great differences in economic and infrastructure between Xiamen Island and the outside.Therefore,in order to ensure the sustainable and healthy development of urbanization in Xiamen and to improve the urban system in coastal areas,it is necessary to consider the development of old coastal communities both inside and outside the island as a whole.By calculating the fractal dimension of the community whole plane,community groups plane and community boundary of Gaopu and Zengcuoan,the evolution law is summarized.1.Their overall trend of fractal dimension change is similar.It also shows obvious characteristics of stages.It is basically consistent with the three stages of rapid urbanization in Xiamen.2.The fractal dimension of the whole community shows a monotonous upward trend.The change of fractal dimension of community groups plane is consistent with the change of fractal dimension of community whole plane.The change of community boundary fractal dimension is contrary to that of the whole community fractal dimension.3.The fractal dimension of community groups plane and community boundary have the mutation in a certain periodComparative analysis of the community dimensions between Gaopu and Zengcuoan shows that there are obvious differences between them.1.Regardless of the overall trend of change,or the trend of change at each stage,the overall fractal dimension of Zengcuoan is faster than that of Gaopu.2.During the period of spatial agglomeration,the fractal dimension of the boundary of Zengcuoan changed abruptly,from the previous decline to the rise.However,the fractal dimension of Gaopu community boundary remained declining.3.In the stable period,the growth rate of fractal dimension of each group in Zengcuoan is obviously less than that in Gaopu.And the difference between the fractal dimensions of community groups plane is smaller and more homogeneous.Combining the actual spatial evolution process of the two,it is found that the mutation of community fractal dimension and the difference of community fractal dimension evolution are mainly due to the different community development environment and policy guidance.Based on the fractal evolution law of Gaopu and Zengcuoan,combined with the overall evolution characteristics of the old coastal communities in Xiamen,this paper puts forward some suggestions for optimizing the control of the future development of the old coastal communities in Xiamen.1.Maintaining the self-organization of community development is a prerequisite for the renewal of old communities.2 In the period of community transformation,we should properly control the speed of industrial renewal and the influx of external population.3.Overall consideration of the development of neighborhood business and protection of the original style and features of the community.4.For groups or community boundaries near the coastal zone,the ecological environment development of the coastal zone should be considered as a whole.It is suggested that some buffer zones should be reserved outside the community as a space for its elastic growth,so as to consider the subsequent demolition and transformation of the community.
