Separating trucks from passenger vehicles has been a hot topic in our modern traffic research area.The system of separating trucks from passenger vehicles is aiming at separating the truck flow and the passenger vehicle flow into different traffic flows and making them operate independently.By doing this,the trucks and the passenger vehicles will not disturb each other while traveling.In this paper,on the basis of analyzing the characteristics and the applicability of the mixed traffic system and the separating traffic system,we propose the index system of separating trucks from passenger vehicles for urban traffic networks.We study the reform plans of separating trucks from passenger vehicles for urban traffic networks.We use the principal component analysis to make out the weights of the indexes and produce the optimization plans.With the proposed method,we provide a useful approach to select the optimization reform plan for separating trucks from passenger vehicles in urban traffic networks.Take a significant intersection in S city as an example,we establish its simulation model by the software of VISSIM.After analyzing the simulation results produced by the model,we make out the optimization reform plan for separating trucks from passenger vehicles for this intersection.What is more,we testify the effectiveness of this method by using the theory of serial number summation.Due to the contribution this research makes,a valid method for selecting the optimization reform plans for separating trucks from passenger vehicles is proposed.This method provides a useful approach for reform the existing urban networks for separating trucks from passenger vehicles in China.It also provides solid basis for the study and the application of separating trucks from passenger vehicles in urban cities in China.The method this research provides is also suitable for the selection and evaluation for the reform plans of other urban intersections,especially for the reform plans for separating trucks from passenger vehicles.Combining this method with the survey data,we can obtain much more precise simulation results which are very valuable for the research and the application of the establishing and the management of separating trucks from passenger vehicles in urban traffic networks.
